  1. Effort is all well and good but it can still look pretty terrible when your team doesn't have energy, smarts, or any kind of structure

  2. MacKinnon and Makar are a pleasure to watch. Makar is so dynamic it's crazy. Was expecting a loss tbh as much as I hate saying that. Was nice to see Watson getting a second goal in 2 games. But seriously…….where have Larkin and Raymond gone? Also noticed Seider looks frustrated and done at this point. Lyon was OK not really his fault at all.

  3. Stevie Y needs to get his head outta his arse and have serious lectures with several of these overpaid amateurs. All you hear from them are excuses. As far as I'm concerned, if you're making nearly $9 mil a year like Seider and Raymond, and you can't be a reckoning force day in and day out each game, I think you lose a chunk of those millions you're making when you aren't deserving of it. Makar tonight, as always, puts on a clinic for his counterparts, like Seider. Seider is laughable compared to Makar. Will take him any day over Seider. All you hear Seider and others on this team do is make excuses. Kane and Debrincat have done a lot as a tandem, and have every right to criticize their play. Let's not blame the new head coach. McClellan and his assistant have done everything they could do to make thks team win, but you can tell that they don't want it that bad. It's too bad that Yzerman just can't put every player on waivers who hasn't contributed to playing hard to win during regulation. The Wings organization is an organization run by constant failure.

  4. Half the team couldn't give a shit about how these games end up. Got people laying their bodies on the line while other dudes are taking it easy collecting a paycheck

  5. Tired of hearing the same comments over and over. "Every guy in this room wants it, everyone here believes we can do it, we're capable of playing good games" yet they've played like absolute garbage for the last month. Maybe they need to start calling people out who deserve it.

  6. Keeping Walman and signing Matt Roy would have made this a shoe in playoff team. Yzerman has botched so many moves and non moves. Outside of the draft he has been an abomination. I am sick and tired of it.

  7. This team is so weak on the back end it’s pitiful… aside from a few guys this team plays entirely too soft… never taking the body, never owing the net front in the D end… fly by effort when forechecking… all talent zero grit not a good combination

  8. Holl literally just gives the puck away every PK, how hard is it to just DUMP the puck into their zone??

  9. Compher, Rasmussen, Tarasenko, sometimes Chariot and ESPECIALLY JUSTIN HOLL are the definition of pylons for a paycheck. These guys do not care about being in the playoffs, would rather have the summer off

As long as those I named stay on the team we will not make the playoffs but if we hit the first round we will not last. Starting Holl on the second line makes me honestly not want to watch. We had a solid defensemen in Walman but Yzerman gave him away with a second round pick instead of putting him on waivers…which we still need a real explanation for, Stevie! Imagine Walman instead of Holl right now, not even comparable.

Compher talking about "we know we can do it". We all watched that game and there was no bite from half the team. Rasmussen literally coasting, never laying the body ever. He will try to make finesse plays but when he coughs it up instead of harassing the opps like we want an archetype of his size to do he just strolls onto the bench.

Also, I'll say it now. Larkin is a point per game player but to rely on him to be our first line center and captain will not cut it if we want to contend in 5 years once the players I named contracts end.

Was I watching the same game as the guys being interviewed? Everybody seems so satisfied with the performance but I'm at home seeing a huge drop off from how we have played in the past. I'm really looking forward to ASP being an A B to Seider but I have no real expectations of making the playoffs unless Yzerman makes a few key drastic moves.

  10. Idk how they can keep saying the belief is there, they’re fighting, it doesn’t look like it and the eye test never fails. They’re not buzzing at all. Sloppy passes, just shooting at nothing, missing the net 80% of the time..I mean it goes on and on.

  11. They are simply not good enough to hold a wildcard spot let alone be in one and hold it and get in. The free agent classes Yzerman has had are terrible. I like the young guys but they can’t carry these bad vets to the playoffs. Chariot Holl Petry ETC they are bad. Yzerman should be fired

  12. Even though I have zero hope for this team I will give credit to Todd for keeping a good consistent positive message. Lalonde would have just said " we are not even supposed to be here!!" Its like yeah thanks for the boost coach lol

  13. Not sure if there is a GM within any Organization in sports that would still have a job after missing the playoffs 6 years in a row. Oh wait…

  14. Boys, we can't rely on Watson to score a goal per game. A couple of those goals against were soft, but we are too soft on coverage in our D zone. We can't give the Avs PP's ffs. They capitalize. I am assuming Larks and Razor have some nagging injury.

  15. Got all the excuses out of the way so that’s good since there’s no space for any here on out.

  16. The losses lately have been against big, heavy forecheck teams, playoff style hockey. While Colorado is big and can forecheck, their top end skill level is elite and the wings don’t have an answer for that. The wings just aren’t built for that style of game, and that’s a big mark against Yzerman. But young talent coming up and a lot of money to spend on a deep FA pool this offseason, we’ll see

  17. Isn’t it funny how a team looks when it has two actual stars and not littered with bad contracts? Crazy how different the paths of these two franchises have gone since the 2010’s…

  18. Detroit " It's hard to make trades and build a winner" Washington. "Two players left from 2018 cup win"

  19. Please please get some grit on this team get some tuff guys who will protect your star players I’m so tired of seeing them pushed around and taken advantage of , bring back Joey k or Darren c or draft someone like probie

  20. Food for thought ! Colorado picked up 9 players before the deadline let me say that again 9 players ! So how do you think that’s working out ! Steve save those picks in your pocket ! Terrible

  21. I cannot be the only one here fuming every time these guys praise themselves over "doing the little things right", am I? Like, bro, you lost. Who gives a shit about the little things. Start winning again and then you can go back to patting your own ass about not falling over or not letting teams get good entries or whatever the fuck.

  22. The Detroit Red Wings are in a frustrating spot once again, and I’m honestly tired of hearing the same excuses. It’s becoming more and more clear that the biggest issue is a lack of consistency, especially when it comes to responding to adversity. Too often, the Red Wings crumble when they’re in a playoff spot or when an injury hits. It feels like they can’t maintain focus or intensity when it matters most.

This isn’t just about missing key players, it’s about mentality. The team has this pattern where they go into cruise control, and the necessary urgency just isn’t there. You can’t get lazy when you have other teams behind you feigning for a playoff spot. You literally give your playoff spot to those who are now ahead of you. I get that coaches try to light a fire under them, but at some point, the players have to figure it out themselves. The ability to rise to the occasion when things get tough is what separates good teams from great ones.

And honestly, this isn’t on Steve Yzerman. He’s done his part in building a team that has the potential to compete for a wild card spot. The problem lies with the players. They need to take ownership of their performance. It’s not about constantly changing coaches to spark a turnaround—it’s about the players finding that spark within themselves. Until they learn how to fight through adversity and stay focused under pressure, the Red Wings will keep falling short when it matters most.

  23. The biggest difference is that when McLallan took over they started to play a puck possession game which gave them way more o-zone time but some how that went off the rails and during this losing streak they have been back to dump and chase, hurried passes and easy one and done shots. They need to get back to making sure they control the puck for as long as possible every game.
