Remember when the Flyers fired Peter Laviolette because the players were unhappy? Flyers fans are done with these players.
He lasted longer than I thought.
He was the wrong coach from day 1.
Game passed him by years ago.
Flyers need a young coach who understands that offense wins in the modern NHL.
His relationship with michkov was declining, that was why he wasn't coming back

It’s not about whether Torts is still a good coach, it’s whether he was the right coach for a rebuild? I have believed from day one he was the wrong coach for a rebuild.
Last season set the rebuild back a year because they actually had a good season for 70 games. Then they collapsed, missed the playoffs and got the #13 pick. You couldn’t ask for a worse scenario for a rebuild. The goal of last season and this season was get a top 5 pick, clear cap space, and stockpile draft picks. They ended up getting the 13th pick and that is a big difference from a top 5.
Briere finally got it right by gutting the team last month trading Farabee, Frost and Laughton. That should have been done last year and we would have gotten a better pick.
That was the flaw of Hextall’s rebuild as we kept drafting in the mid first round, with the exception of one lucky year in the lottery. Unfortunately concussions derailed Patrick’s career. Just like Carter Hart’s career derailed by his upcoming trial. You need some luck too.
With the salary cap it’s so hard to build through free agency anymore, you have to get high end talent in the draft (or make a big trade). It will be interesting to see what Briere does but we still need a 1C, 1D and 1G. Until you have atleast 2 of those positions secured we won’t take that next step to compete with great teams.
Let’s face it folks…coaching the flyers is the NHL’s version of the NY Jets coaching Job…

Torts biggest problem is his ego…he got cute with the media and his mouth wrote a check his results couldn’t cash! Folks he hasn’t won a dayum thing in 20 years
Torts best defensive coach in Philly….only gave up 2 touchdowns in his final 2 games….
The flyers media needs to own responsibility as well. Anytime a player did well especially MM its torts deserves credit for getting the most out of? REALLY…this kid has spent his life working to get to this point. You give torts this credit for Tippett…he has had point of being straight hot garbage…do well it’s look 👀 what torts is doing….do bad? Bench the player because he isn’t buying in! The media role? Jon what’s your favorite Ice cream flavor…45 second presser after a loss and the media is shhhh don’t ouss him off!
Torts is not a rebuilding type coach’ not the right guy for the job ‘ especially at his age’ not my type of coach ‘ to much controversy in his style of coaching ‘ he brings a lot of negative attention to himself and the team’ get a coach like the Tampa coach who do their jobs without all the extra curricular

A poorly run team since the end of the Snider era. No system. No philosophy. Just ongoing management and player turnover.
From what former players have said about tort it seems like it’s 50/50 on players that either like him or hate him. There doesn’t seem to be a middle. DB KJ DH know that you can’t have half the room and you can’t build a team if half the players don’t want to play for him.

Briere screwed this one up. Flyers are going to struggle even longer now. Torts was a great coach for this team. They never gave him a goaltender.

When Tortorella said what he said in that post game presser, he was basically telling Danny, Keith, and Dan "I quit". He was never happy with the goaltending position from the get go this season. He said at the start of the season, ”The goaltending scares the shit out of me.". He was just burned out at that point.

He is washed up. HE is the old style head game coach. That style doesn't work out anymore.

What I’m not understanding is that everyone knew this was a rebuilding that started last year. Tortorella is not a rebuilding, especially with a bunch of rookies and two year experience. This young, talented team wasn’t just losing, but went back to back being shutout consistently. Even when some of their opponents wasn’t scoring, the flyers defense left their goalie hung out to dry!!! Now we know why the flyers could’nt get some players in trades they wanted. 🤔
Just face it, the players didn’t want to play for him anymore.

The organization sucks and the players are AHL at best aside of michkov and you wonder why nobody wants to come here. They fire a coach with 8 games left and here comes danny who sounds like it’s his first day on the job telling the players to finish strong! Meanwhile let’s give up
the chance for 3rd overall in the draft. I hate this team organization and mostly Comcast. I wouldn’t be surprised if they win the next 8 games and push this team back another decade.

It's difficult to be a nice guy and still have to set boundaries and punishments for others.
Let's not forget that we actually had a goalie in Hart, but he got himself locked up for being an idiot. So now we have to go through the nightmare of finding a Flyers goalie through the draft. How about some defenseman that can actually defend??!! And a pure goal scorer. Not a bunch of average JAG's.
