We can give them kudos for winning and playing clutch hockey of late. Yet there are six games left, five on the road, against all good teams, six points out, with the next game an absolute must. The math doesn't add up.
The mathematical formula is win out and hope the Habs lose 3of 6 89-91 and they are in, oh and the Ramgers lose one or more . Good luck 🍀 on that scenario
Watched the Montreal vs. Nashville game. Very frustrating. Nashville went ahead 2-0 early, but the second goal was challenged and overturned because of (questionable) goalie interference.
Nashville actually outplayed Montreal, outshooting them 37-17, but still lost. It seriously hurt the Red Wings, too.
Putin-loving Ovechkin passes MAGA-loving (51st State Canadian) Gretzky for most goals.
Two of the greatest hockey players. Sad about who they publicly favor politically.
Kudos to Ovie for becoming the greatest goalscorer of all time!👏
Scotty's not bald
Man, this team CAN beat anyone. WILL they, is a descent into madness.
It’s highly unlikely they are making it. I get anything can happen in the playoffs but they honestly don’t even deserve it. They had another embarrassing collapse just like last year. They’ve needed to play “playoff” hockey for the last month and have shown consistently they can’t do it. It seems like the 4 Nation break and that horrible loss to the Jackets in the outdoor game really messed with the momentum they had after Todd took over.
for everyone who counted this team out including these two knuckleheads the season isnt over yet folks! 🤷♂️🤭👍
Bald Count=1
Anyone put on a pair with Holl gets a pass in my book
Great episode Scotty 😎 and congrats to The great 8🎉
"…Brian is bald…" 💀
Bald Count=2
Bald Count=3. You win.
We love you Scotty, We Ball!
My daughter and I were at both games at LCA! We were front row behind Talbot vs Panthers! It was AWESOME!
Want to get excited. But Florida dressed half of their team 🙁
Still missing the playoffs then hurt their draft position. Great strategy
Yay wings win 2 games when it means nothing, but moving away from a better draft position. Great job guys.
Missed opportunity to say “I ball, he bald”
It's great to see the Wings playing so great hockey the past few games. Tghey are playing solid defense and not backing away.. Unless they could beat the Canadians on tuesday and pull off a small miracle, it is great to be watching them.Great for Charott showng good defense and toughness. Great goal tending from Talbot. Thank you Scottie. Ray L
This weekend we played more of our game rather than try to play to what our opponents style. This is something that Lalonde got wrong, badly. Hopefully McLellan will get this right with a full pre season.
Story time for those who don't care:
In 2003 after the Red Wings lost their repeat bid, I inexplicably stopped watching hockey. Don't know why. Probably just had other things I was focused on as a kid.
Five years later, I was at a buddy's who was watching the Red Wings take on the Pens in the SCF. They had a segment on leading scorers and I saw this dude that had 65 goals. I asked my friend who he was, he told me his name was Alexander Ovechkin.
That next year, a different friend and I got hockey tickets at the Joe after I did some research and found out what team Ovechkin played for.
Ovechkin didn't score in the game we went to, but when I saw Ovechkin take runs at Kronwall, who in my book was one of the best checkers in the game, I said to myself "this guy scores goals and hits? He reminds me of Gordie Howe!"
From that point on, I became a fan of both the Wings and the Caps. I've never missed a year that Ovechkin has been to Detroit.
I was there for 870 this year, not long after my dog Alex (appropriately named after Ovechkin himself) passed away. It was a super emotional moment for me and I remember looking up and saying, "That one's for you, buddy."
Crazy that the guy that got me back into hockey just scored one of the biggest goals of all time. Thanks for the ride Ovi. Even as a Red Wings fan, I appreciate this guy to no end.
No, no one is going to go. 82 – 0 – 0 but the most Islanders thing ever to do would be to go 0 – 0 – 82 and still clinch a playoff spot over the Wings. Brian's head would explode
Panthers were missing nearly every important player and the Canes just weren't engaged right at the start of the game.
I think all of the years of losing has lowered our standards. They played terrible, ugly hockey in both games and found a way to win. That's not "sustainable", though. There's no reason to think they can beat the Habs tomorrow while struggling to break 20 shots on goal, wasting PP opportunities, and spending half the game stuck in the defensive zone, relying on Talbot to save their ass.
Way to go boys against Good teams😮😮 If only All other teams in race would lose…..,
Great job holding down the fort!
Wasted NO time for the Bald comments, lol. Love it Scotty
Don’t blame the Wings for the Wing streak that is taking us out of a great pick in draft lottery. It’s again the “other” teams sending out their “minor” league affiliates to play against us in their place
Love the breakdown!
Anyone that thinks the Wings should tank instead of winning games…. is a scab
How did preds somehow not win
Okay… at first it bothered me that a Russian was going to break the scoring record. I suppose being born in 1960 had something to do with my prejudice. And of course, actually watching the 'Miracle on Ice happen live on my television. But then…. how could I forget or deny my love of 'the Russian Five', especially when my youngest daughter always was wearing her #13 jersey (Kozlov).
Sorry Ovi for not wanting you to break the record…. cause it was a beautiful thing to see.
I'm saying it now…. Brian is bad luck
I look at Debrincat last year compared to this, and I hope that Compher comes back next year. He's capable, has had a tough year.
Agreed… Wings have needed to not just let their opponent waltz into their o-zone over & over (& over) again. Seeing them in some more recent games as a 5-man group working together to keep their opponent from breaking into their o-zone so easily has been positive… Not perfect, but better.
The PP, teams have "figured out" what they have been doing, how to counter it.
And Kasper! I appreciated the love even the national announcers were giving him during Sunday's game! He's been the top rookie scorer since Jan 1 & one of the best rookies overall since he's been given the play time. ❤
Holl didn't cost the wings a game, but directly led to a goal on Friday. Mishandling the puck like a rookie… No, that's offensive to rookies… Right in front of his own goal and giving it away to a Canes player to shoot in. Even Talbot looked at him like WTH.
I agree with hockey being marketed well this year with these big events & records. I have friends that know hardly anything about hockey that have watched 4 seasons & other games. Loving it!
❤
Thanks for the podcast, an update on him still being bald
Im really liking the new lines of larking/kane/cat and kasper/soda/razor, even the smith/motte/ras line is doing decently
