  1. In an ideal world where contacts aren't an issue, I think the only players I'd bring back are DeBrincat, Seider, Edvinsson, Raymond, Kane, Kasper, Larkin, and Soderblom. Maybe Chiarot exclusively in a 3rd pair role.

  2. Kaine is going to leave—-he lost $750,000 in bonuses on a team full of guys that, had yzerman put a better roster together, would have got him that money. Can’t blame him. I would start by letting Yzerman go.

  3. Where do you start? Holl and or Tarasenko have to moved or buy out candidates. Petry is a UFA, won't be resigned. I would try to trade Chiarot , bring in Sandin Pellika, hold on to Johansson, Soderblom, Kasper, Larkin, Raymond, Debrincat, Seider, Kane, Edvinsson. Copp's contract may be tough to move. Lyon is a UFA don't resign. If they stick with three goalie system bring in Cossa or try and trade Talbot or Mrazek. Motte, will be gone as well as Smith. Bring in Carter Mazur, Danielson, trade Rasmussen. Love to move on from Gustafsson as well so Stevie will have to bring in additional D

  4. Players who should be leaving Detroit this offseason: Jeff Petry (retire), Tyler Motte (UFA), Alex Lyon (UFA), Justin Holl (buyout), Erik Gustavsson (Trade 7th round draft pick or Future Considerations), Vladimir Tarensenko (Trade 50% retained 4th round draft pick)

  5. The evidence is so overwhelming that it's not about the players but the people around them.

The question is whether the owner has the courage to fire his Golden Boy and hire a knowledgeable person from outside? That person then has the opportunity to hire whoever he wants to clean up the S.f.Y nepotism that is carried out via the hiring that was done back in the days.

In the coming years, I don't care who plays in the team or not. Looking at the length of some of the contracts, it doesn't give any security to know that S.f.Y has more money to spend in the next three years (oh my god, it's scary to think).

So the question for me is more, who will be next year's Kasper or Johansson?

  6. The team needs to be rebuilt again, starting with firing Yzerman then Tarasenko, Compher and Holl need to be placed on waivers immediately while Petry is put out to pasture. The team needs to sign a top line Dman and a #4 Dman as well as an offensive depth scorer

Hate to say it but Dylan Larkin has to go. The team has no chemistry and with Larkin as the leader, they will go nowhere. The fact the team has played with absolutely ZERO sense of urgency most of the season and particularly during crunch time the last two seasons, tells you all you need to know about his leadership.

  7. Last years shake up. Losing walman and perron bringing in vlad, motte, gus and keeping holl. How can things get worse?

  8. Beside the obvious…holl, petry, gust, vlad, smith, motte, lyon, bergs….it depends on the vriables we don't yet know of or that will present themselves. Could this be the offseason that finally provides a major upgrade…I suspect so.

  9. I won't question Dylan Larkin as captain, but besides a lot of movement in the summer I also want to see the passing around of the 'A' to stop! Show the team, the fans, the public who your true leaders are. And take responsibility. Half the team wearing the 'A' at some point of the season since Z retired.

  10. Hope to see Danielson and Lombardi on the team next year. Take a swing at Marner. I'd rather not hope for a shot at McKenna, but if we absolutely crap the bed, we have to keep that in mind…

  11. The Yzerclown/Illich combo has destroyed the makeup of this team. No Grit and not enough scoring to compete, worst goal tending in the league. The Larkin, Sieder combo is adequate but not stars. The HC started out like a champ, and ended up like a chump. Yikes!

  12. Hate to break it to you, Scotty, but when your 1st line center who gets over 20 minutes a night with your top wingers and plays on the first unit of every power play produces 60 POINTS, it should not be a "SLAM DUNK" that he's coming back. You don't give him away, but you listen to what other teams have to offer. With the emergence of Marco Kasper, if you could sign a free agent like Brock Nelson, who would give you 60 points, YOU MUST CONSIDER IT.

  13. At least if we suck next year there’s a legitimate franchise player on the line so I won’t feel as bad

  14. Kane is at the point in his career that non hockey considerations are probably as important as the hockey/business ones are. I would be shocked if money took him away from the Wings.

  15. If Lyon can get more money, somebody will take on Talbot for one year at a reasonable price. I have to believe that the trade for Mrazek was made because he will slot in as a backup/partner for Cossa next season.

  16. As a Habs fan, I think trading Larkin to the Canadiens for two 1st round picks and either Xhekaj or Struble would be good for both teams. Detroit as currently composed is not making the playoffs and a major shakeup is needed.

  17. Dude it is salt in the wound that your add break cuts to the locked on sens guy….

And I am going to be legitimately devastated if Kane leaves, however unfortunately we haven't given him much reason to want to stay….

  18. Honestly steve needs to go if he messes up this off season. The team is trash im glad they didn't make the playoffs this year 4 game sweep nso doubt. If steve makes good moves he can stay if he don't your out. If they miss the playoffs hes out.

  19. Prudence towards building a competitive roster would be buying out Holl, Vlad, and Copp.

With the cap rising, you can tank the roughly over four million dead cap hit of buying the three out. You get immediate cap savings. You also don't have to attach assets to Vlad and beg people to trade for him.

I'd rather have Copp over Compher, but Copp is always injured and his dead hit is only four years as opposed to Compher's six. One has to go because this redundancy is unnecessary. Copp is always injured anyway.

Chiarot is fine if he's a third pair Dman. Gus is fine as a 7th dman. His underlying numbers are actually fairly good anyway. Holl being signed to begin with is inexcusable.

  20. Dismissing Larkin potentially being moved is laughable. He doesn’t fit the window in anyway if you’re a firm believer in the Yzerplan and his “patience” plan. Unless Yzerman complete shifts directions and signs Marner and a top 4 LD in free agency, where he is normally terrible. If he doesn’t and it’s just retreat bum UFAs, keeping Larkin makes no sense when most of the talent on this team is under 24.

Larkin can’t bring this team over the top but keeps them just good enough to not draft his better and younger replacement. Send him to Columbus for one of their young Cs so he can be with his pal Werenski but only three hours from home.

  21. I was always anti Berggren from day one and here we are. Guy is not an NHL player. Never was. Get him the hell out of Detroit.
