Le 16 janvier 2025, Olivia Steadman a pu réaliser son rêve de chanter l’hymne national lors d’un match de Winnipeg Jets. C’est son histoire. Olivia a eu un accident vasculaire cérébral avant sa naissance, ce qui a eu un impact sur son cerveau dans de nombreuses régions. Elle vit avec une déficience visuelle, une paralysie cérébrale, une déficience intellectuelle et a eu plusieurs neurosurgeries avant l’âge d’un an. On ne savait pas si elle marcherait, parlerait ou serait indépendante à quelque titre que ce soit et les interventions médicales se poursuivraient tout au long de sa vie. Sa famille a découvert la thérapie de réadaptation à l’éducation conductrice unique du Mouvement Center quand Olivia n’avait que 5 ans. Cela a été le moment chanceux car une intervention précoce est essentielle pour les nourrissons et les enfants diagnostiqués avec des conditions profondes. Olivia est un client depuis – et est soutenu 1 à 1 par le personnel du centre dans un groupe de groupe unique qui encourage la connexion sociale et l’énergie de l’équipe. Le programme de réadaptation d’Olivia est individualisé dans son profil de capacité et ses objectifs personnels. Elle est entraînée et aidée à construire et à maintenir ses compétences motrices, son équilibre et sa force, ainsi que les compétences sociales émotionnelles et autonomes. – – – – – Olivia inspire la communauté et l’inclusion partout où elle va, touchant les cœurs avec son zeste inhibit pour la vie, la résilience et bien sûr son don de la chanson. I work at Olivia's high school so I got to hear her sing a few times in the school choir.
The day of that game, when we on staff found out she was singing the anthem at the Jets game… it was all we could talk about. The same was the case the next day. Olivia knocked it out of the park, and we beamed with pride for our alum.
Great story i was at that game she did a wonderful job. I hope she does another game in the playoffs. Go Jets go, Olivia.
