As long as Fitzgerald is the GM, the Devils will be perennially spinning wheels. The guy’s a clown who has no idea how to construct a winning team. I’m a Devils fan, and I can’t lie about our chances. Canes in FIVE.

Aside from Markstrom kneecapping his own guy, the funniest moment had to be Hamilton cross-checking Svechnikov. Svech goes down easy, making eye contact with the ref the whole way down, and the ref tugs at his jersey telling him to get up. Nothing came of it, but if I was the ref I'd've thrown them both for 2 minutes and laughed while making the announcement.
Only devils goal was a 4v4 that probably should’ve been a 5v3 in favor of the Canes. Lesson to learn is Canes need to stay out of the box.
New Jerseys strategy was to let msrkstrom deal with everything.
New Jersey desperately needs to score the first goal in Game 2. Get the lead and play smart, simple hockey. Markstrom is already locked in after today. A good start and the first goal could help bring the rest of the group along.

As a Devils fan, this was the hardest game I think I have yet to watch. 40 minutes of just domination.

well…given how many guys they lost and how it looked, canes in 4…in 5 if new jersey manages to save the honor jut for the hell of it
markstrom obviously has made the devils more competitive but missing their best player is huge ..and they looked as if they didnt have any focus on how to get things done ..all individual effort…and carolina gets an A for playing their game and executed it well…i think advantage coaching the canes as well..they were ready to put their best foot forward

That didn't look like a "hey get out of my area" tap, that seemed more like a "I will ruin your knee" slash that, thank karma, took out Glass instead. I feel terrible for Glass. I have no sympathy for the Devils.
Poor Sheldon Keefe, I hope he doesn't take this stretch personal. It's never fun to be thrown to the wolves, and he came from a Toronto team that struggled to keep the puck out of their own end at times last season, even with all their success.
