I will never understand why they just will not face the reality that Bouchard is a terrible defence man, with only periodic flashes of brilliance. Net result: easy goals against. Except on the power play, he is a serious liability. This is a profession. Admit it and decide accordingly rather than sugar coating and putting a hard working team through this.
The Oilers played a total of 20 mins in this game. The first 39 minutes was an embarrassing effort.

Skinner is just an average goaltender at best. When we realize this is the only time we will have success.
That 5 on 3 kill was huge. We can shut their PP down. And our PP will figure it out fast. We got a wakeup call in game 1 and that might be the best thing for us.
At what point does the coaching staff take responsibility for Evan Bouchard’s play? It’s unbelievable how he continues to get significant ice time when he’s consistently on the ice for goals against. It’s beyond frustrating to watch. And while I understand Stuart Skinner may not be your guy, the decision to not bring in a legitimate starting goalie falls squarely on this front office. How can anyone look at our goaltending and say it’s good enough? It’s not.
We can’t keep leaning on McDavid and Draisaitl to carry this team to the Cup. It’s just not sustainable. Bench Bouchard. Stop over-tinkering with the lines. And for the love of everything holy, hope that Skinner can find his footing as a backup to Pickard, because that’s where he belongs right now. This team deserves better.
