This is management's fault. If you don't know how to build a winner around the 2 best at the game(imo), then of course McDrai are gonna be the biggest scoring threats and produce, but they'll have mediocre players at best to work with, leading to serious frustration for them. That's all mostly mismanagement of the team. Next year, Kane gone, Perry gone, Klingbeg gone, Henrique gone, Stu Skinner gone, get some value out of these pieces somehow. Oh, also Bouchard gone. Why'd they get rid of Barrie? He was a better more consistent d-man than Bouch. So many management mistakes by the Oilers. I say this knowing that I have no clue how to manage a team, I'm arm-chairing it but like….. fix it MANAGEMENT!
As an Oilers fan, I agree. There is only rest off the team doesn’t do to much. The odd goal comes from someone who’s not Draisaitl or McDavid but still.
This guy answered his own question. Anybody who has played a team sport knows that when you have a player that the other teams can’t stop, their teammates tend to become spectators. They’re looking and waiting for that special player to make a play. So now everybody is looking around waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen themselves.

McDavid will NOT be an Oiler next season. He wants to win a cup before he retires and with Edmonont that's just not going to happen. Drai has already signed so that's fine but this team is NOT cup ready. A whole lot needs to change for that to happen. We cannpt continue to play 20 minutes of a 60 minute game and expect to win in the playoff's. We have so much talent and not much of a team. Coaches and players will need to be shuffled in the off season or we are just doomed to repeat this disappointment.
Where is the rest of team??? Where is Hyman? The rest of the Oilers are just sitting on their ass bench warming and collecting their cheques like government employees…There is NO Oiler team and do not desrve to move to the next round.
The problem is nhl fans. Their most likely never be another Gretz in our lifetime. The skill gap is too small. Gotta build an entire team. You just can't win off of 2 amazing players. You need at least 6 good to decent forwards, 4 solid d-men, and a great/hot tendy.
Its not that they want it more. Its because they are uber talented. And the team built around them is not. Big Hole on D with Eckholm gone, Goaltending is a dumpster fire, 3rd and 4th lines are impotent.
With Stan Bowman as GM… Edmonton better get use to this!! When u got McJesus & Draisaitl on ur team… u should be selling ur picks every year til u win a Cup!! 2 1st & 1/3 would've been a major overpay for a Goalie… but it something that should've been done!
