The roster is different this year, I would agree they look slower and weaker in our zone. But did anyone love Foegelle when he was here? No. Ceci? Mediocre. We did upgrade on paper but we have injuries.
The Oilers were 30-6 with .900 goaltending so let’s not forget how elite this team can be when they play reasonably well in our zone and the goaltenders do their job.
The management gave away two 1st rounders after years of development. Then brought in many unwanted/ broken pieces on the cheap.
They gutted the team thinking only McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard mattered. Mistake.
Im a Canucks fan and I envy that roster. They literally have 2 of the top 5 players in the game on their roster. With the cap rising over the next few seasons, they will be able to add the needed depth for a few more cup runs.

Incorrect. They have only been a mostly average team since the four nations tournament. When they started having a bunch of injuries and weren't able to regain team cohesiveness and team defense cohesiveness. You're right, you can't get that back just by snapping your fingers, especially when they're still three or four key guys out of the lineup. And yet, they are able to hold their own against the Los Angeles kings, and the egregious officiating against them.
I am not I am not expecting them to do great things or go all the way this year, but they're definitely better than you are suggesting.
