How could anyone be surprised by this? The Devils never had a chance. Hughes has yet to complete a full season. Their defense is nonexistent and I've never seen a team give up so quickly in the most clutch situations. Devils and Canes were having a contest to see who could be embarrassed by Washington in the next round. The Canes are perennial playoff choke artists, so this series was just the undercard for the heavyweight bought. No one cared about this series.
