No chance for Devils with Haula on the roster. Haula was eliminated for the fourth consecutive time in the playoffs by Hurricanes.

I feel for the Devils, they showed a lot of heart after Game 1. By far the lowest odds to win the cup coming into the playoffs, rightfully proven in Game 1 but even then multiple injuries in that game
Give them credit though, they could have just laid down after Game 1, but they fought till the very end. Very respectable 👏
The Devils looked absolutely exhausted in the 1st OT, and Siegenthaler could hardly do anything in OT (considering his intense return from injury, I can’t fault him too much – not even on the last goal). It’s a tough way to end the season as a Devils fan, but I’m proud of how they pushed. Still some fixes to be made and depth to be dug. Carolina is a talented, fit, disciplined team – no shame in losing to them.
Devils did nothing to help their own goalie. Horrific stupid undisciplined penalties.The refs were horrible as usual. Markstrom and Nico Hischier and Timo were the only ones who showed up. Lame offense. Multiple injuries. No power play. Nothing from Ondřej Palátas as usual. Fitzgerald has max 1 more year if not sooner. At Devils 3 – 0 I was very optimistic. To blow a 3 – 0 lead is pathetic. Fire Fitzgerald.

While I concede in that Devils were gassed at the last 35-40 minutes, the refs helped out the canes to win. Such a joke of a league.

The Canes have not lost a regulation game in the playoffs this year. They are incredibly hard to beat. Kudos to Markstrom and the Devils for fighting hard. After the Devils 4th goal the Canes played their best shutdown defense and when the Canes play like that good luck to their opponent. The team that knocks off the Canes in the playoffs will have to outwork them for 60 minutes or longer to eliminate them and that won't be easy.
We fought harder than I thought we would. Gotta pick up the prices from here tho. Wonder how we do that?
3-0 leads are NOT safe against the Hurricanes in playoff games. Game 1 of the final in 2006 is remembered for Roloson's injury but the Canes had overcome a 3-0 deficit by that point.
Literally all 6 Devils starting defenseman were either out with injury (Dillion, L. Hughes, Kovacevic), playing through injury (Pesce, Siegenthaler), or just got back from injury (Hamilton) as well as their best player out with injury. And they still found a way to be competitive against a great Canes team. Super impressed with their effort, makes me really excited for this team going forward! Congrats to the Canes as well, ur guys PK is nuts.
It’s a shame the devils went out by the refs hand. Mainly this game was awful by them. Hope caps beat the canes

Kudos to New Jersey for a scrappy effort, especially considering the adversity. Markstrom was brilliant. It was a clean, well-played series to watch…The Canes are lucky to get out of this series with time to rest, because the semi finals with (presumably) the Caps will be vicious…
Anyone who is not a fan of either team who watched this series would assume Carolina finished with 20+ more points in the standings, not 8.
Aho has now 7 points in the last 3 games and 8 points in the last 4 games. I love this new Canes team and i think they will get at least to Conference Finals and has a real possibility to take it all the way to the Cup Finals.
My only wish was that we could put out our full legit team. Banged up or not. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out that way, so there will always be the "what if" we were somewhat healthy like the Canes. Maybe next year. Guys have to hit the gym and take care of their bodies. And that goes double for Jack Hughes.

Canes fan here to say that Markstrom put on an absolute CLINIC the last 3 periods of the game. Outstanding performance to stay alive as long as possible.

what really surprised me about the end of the devils season was how long we had without jack hughes. How did we not figure out how to play without him at a high caliber. Just don’t get it.
Im happy we won but i am incredibly impressed with Markstrom. Once Kochetkov settled down he was much better despite being not as busy

Man down, man down. First causality of the 2025 NHL playoffs. Markstrom was the only Devil trying to win this game. Canes all 3rd period were all over the Devils. I figured if the Devils win its a crazy bounce and just a lucky break because the Canes where in full control. Better team won. Got 1 match up correct on most of my brackets.
The Refs, the NHL and the N.J. Devils Organization all played a key rolls in having the season end like this for the Devils. I hope the owner of this team makes himself heard and rectifies this. All. the league cares about is there New York market and their control of the television market. Screw the fans.and players who were targeted and hurt.
Canes fans should be buying the refs beers for this series.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the recap the next day…That was completely traumatizing and I'm still sick from my head to my stomach with this empty feeling. This went from a dream start to a Vietnam flashback. I imagine captain Nico dragging people away from the frontline, then at the end Markstrom lifting wounded teammates over his back, then in slow motion the saddest scene, he goes down like that scene in we were soldiers with a man over his shoulders 😢. Once mercer old yeller'd us me and my father who I was watching it with both looked at each other and knew that was it. This was a tough way to go out, congrats to a relentless Canes team…
Wednesday night in the NHL Playoffs was basically "Goalie Takeover Night."
This game was the embodiment of the NJD season, such an epic disappointment blowing a 3-0 lead.

Devils fought hard, considering that they had problems with injuries to some of the key players. Gotta give credit when it's do. Carolina was able to overcome Devils leading 3-0, and good teams find a way to win. We're off golfing, and hopefully, we are healthy next year, and some moves are made. Good luck with Washington.
As a Brynäs fan for about 35 years it´s nice to see Markströms performance this game.
