That game reminded of when MTL knocked out the Leaf in the playoffs a few years ago in Price's last hurrah.
Toronto was a bit lazy in their own end mostly sweeping at pucks rather than taking the body and VERY poor shooting like mostly sliding pucks along the ice right at the goalie.
This is why any team can beat any team not many can play poorly and still win and then sometimes even then yo ucan like MTL all year a very opportunistic team outshot most nights poor sloppy play and yet timely points to get into the playoffs.
if Toronto plays like that again they will surely lose again so they better show up with smart defense "play the body not the puck" and MUCH better shooting IQ.
Something else I eluded to the last few years mathews doesn't always show up to play he is a decent skater obviously a great shot but sometimes he looks like he is out public skating.
Leafs best players have trouble being the best players in the playoffs. MacKinnon, Crosby, McDavid, Draisitl, they don't seem to have such issues. If your best are only as good as Holmberg and Kampf, you can't win. 1 win in 14 games where they could win and move on or had to win or go home, speaks to the mental game; the leaders (Matthews, Tavares, Rielly) need to play like winning is the onluy option, losses are for learning.

Everyone says “the leafs are beating themselves”. No one is giving the sens any credit. They are two overtime coin flips away from being up 4-1 in the series.
"This is a game they have to win, and they didn't." Not a huge fan of this expression in hockey media. The only games teams have to win in the playoffs are the games they are up for elimination.
The Leafs were always either going to win in 5, or lose in 7. The prophecy will be fulfilled.

I know I put money on Leafs winning this series in game 6, which means Ottawa needed to win 2 games. But the way Ottawa won 5th game was so concerning that now I gear Leafs won't win game 6 ,and we all know how game 7's have gone with Leafs.(usually not well)
