  1. One step at a time, the kid does have talent.Who expected Geekie to come into his own this year?

  2. Marchy, first year, similiar age like Fabian, had 20G 0+1 -3, Fabian 12G 1+2 -4, What does it mean? Nothing. The next year is more important, but Fabian was more and more selfconfident every game and every shift. His last A, the effort and the great move, nice. I can see the silver lining.

  3. Lysell just needs to consistently utilize the speed he showed in that last game of the season! There are many aging forwards and defenseman still in the league that he can outrace and create scoring chances. If he can create a few every game, he'll have no problem staying in the lineup no matter who the new coach is.

  4. His board work needs help, I watched him lose 3 puck battles in a row in one shift.
His puck management when he does not have room needs work.
So, frustrating but not uncommon for a 22yr old prospect.
His offense has improved as he has played in Boston, with showing at least one big skill chance per game.
You see he uses his speed and he has some vision with and without the puck.
    Its there.
His offseason will indeed be key. How will he approach it?
Will he TAKE a roster spot in camp and earn his playing time in Boston in October?
The next 6 months may very well determine his career.

  5. If you can get with l charro.Put on 15 to 20 poundon't.
Get stronger.I think it will make a big difference. We'll see what he does.In the off season if he's dedicated if he has The heart

  6. Lysell seems like his potential could be similar or higher then that of Jake Debrusk. I could see hiim as a 60 point scorer

  7. Once he knew he was going to stay until the end of the season he seemed to just play his game and he looked good. Big offseason for him. He needs to be a top 6 guy to be effective.

  8. the forecheck and steal on dillon and then set up the goal might be the most promising thing to see from him. i think he looks great. confidence is everything in everything. hope they have a good run down in AHL. i like your take on the draft during covid. i saw a similar take by an edmonton oiler video on why teams may have passed over on wyatt johnston. of course we hear that all the time.

  9. I played with Fabian when we were kids back in Gothenburg, Sweden. Guy is an absolute natural. Hockey was always his main thing, but he basically played every sport—tennis, football, golf—you name it. I think he had 2 hcp in golf when we were around ten years old. I believe every parent and coach that saw him then would have put money on him becoming an NHLer had they been able to. His dad used to drive him everywhere, several training sessions a day, from tournaments in one sport to another.

Obviously, we were kids, but I can say that he is a real impact player. I distinctly remember when our team was down by a couple of goals, Fabian not present (clearly). His dads car came screeching into the parking lot, coming directly from some other game. Fabian jumped out, tied his skates, came in for the final period. Game ended something like 11-3. He scored every goal.

He’s definitely at his best when he’s confident. Think that’s been the missing piece in the puzzle, and you can sense that he’s built some confidence over these last few games. Definitely has some aspects of the game to continue working on, and he would benefit from gaining a little more weight now that he’s in the big league—but I have no doubts that he’ll be very important for the Bruins over the coming years. Really exciting to see him finally get his shot.

  10. Lysell should definitely makes the Bruins next year. You could see him getting more and more comfortable with each game, he finally looked comfortable enough to not just exist out there, but to play his game. What his role will be is uncertain but I think the Bruins would be dumb to not give him an extended look to start the season.

  11. I'd like to see Boston dangle him for breakaways. We've done that a little with pasta and before that debrusk but we seemed to back off on that.

  12. The draft is a gamble on an educated guess. Not every pick becomes a great player.

  13. I think people want to have closure on whether a pick is good or a bust too quick these days. He is still young, and it isn't like the Bruins have tons of prospects they can replace his spot in the system with. Hopefully he continues to develop, but if not, the team is in a rebuild anyway. Better to find out in the next year or two than later.

  14. great vid! do you have any others planned for other prospects? would be great to see your analysis.

  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's time for the Bruins to start putting these kids to the test. Give them top line minutes, regardless of the projected ceiling. Stop limiting them to bottom lines roles. With experience and confidence they'll show what they're truly capable of. I'm excited to see Lysell, Poitras, Merk, Minten, Khusnutdinov, all these young players getting their chance to prove themselves in the top 6. Cheers

  16. If I had to guess, I think Minten, not Lysell, will break camp with the Bruins next fall

  17. I’ve been watching him, his confidence has grown in leaps as he got nhl games under his belt

  18. I'm hoping Lysell shows up to camp hungry to stick with the big club. That said, if he develops the ability to evade hits in the manner Marner does as it's rare to see him get stood up, even better.

  19. I was very low on Lysell but you have convinced me to be a bit more patient…. I guess I just have high expectations when it comes to draft picks. We should have a farm system filled with prospects knocking on the door.. instead we have to overpay players like Zadorov and Lindholm…. Let’s hope Lysell can at least match the production of a Jake DeBrusk someday soon.

  20. I don't think the Marchand comparison makes much sense – Marchand came up on a 4th line role, not expected to score, unlike Fabian that is playing on scoring lines. Still, it is of course too soon to rule out a 22 yo kid with a dozen games in the league. He's shown that can be a top6 player in the league, but he needs to continue improving and add some muscle.

  21. Maybe the Bruins thinking is Lyell needs this last off season to get over 190… anything below that is concerning for strength and endurance I would imagine.. probably why he was not called up more often.

  22. Court, Jacobs came out to say that “Sweeney and Neely are “safe”. I don’t understand why the fans would attack them so hard”. My question to is…Monty has a “system” and it worked. Yes, a couple of people retired and some moved on for whatever reason. If Sweeney brings in players without even consulting Monty to even see if they fit into the system then you can’t blame Monty. He coaching with players that were just given to him. Other than McAvoy (who’s still debatable) he hasn’t drafted anyone top tier. Monty gets fired and now goes on playing in the playoffs. Same thing happened with Cassidy. What’s your take?

  23. Too small, too light, we don’t need more of that typical Bruins model. He will get buried, and the Bruins never either have, or keep a player who can play the game, and be tough as well
