This was a good way to see how the series is going to be played. We know we need to lock down rantanen and special teams need to be better.
Pros, hartebuck looked better then good just not great. Most of theyre goals were lucky. Full forward lineup healthy for the first time in 2 months. Witu Our physicality the longer the series goes the better. 46-24 for hits.
Cons, ehlers can't score. Josh still out. 0/4 on pp. Kept open ice on miko. Helley let in a softy but not on him. We started too slow AGAIN.
Hey Nik and Mikey, I found your show after you'd finished the live show from yesterday. Nice to hear from both of you what your impressions were of Game 1.
My FFF is that coaches have tape on where the breakdowns were for our boys. They can look at it and learn from it. They can also see how Rantanen waltzed into the area in front of Helle and put guys on the ice with him who will be on him every time he's on the ice. (Like Pionk did with McDavid back in 2021). Don't give him air to breathe.
I have no worries about Helle at all and I think we'll see the best version of Helle tomorrow. We need to go to Games 3 and 4 with the series tied. There's no other option. Tomorrow is a must win for the boys to stay in this series. Plus, they never went on any sort of losing spree this year so I expect the same in this series.
Ehlers needs to be with Lowry, that's my other requirement for tomorrow. I wish they'd just leave them together and add whoever coaches decide. Appleton has moments of doing good things but I'm not totally impressed with him either. He's the weakest link of the identity line in my opinion.
Anyway, I feel confident for the boys for tomorrow and for this series, to get the win. So here goes nothing! Go Jets Go!!
I like our chances in the series still but they gotta forget last series and focus on the now. Down 0-1 in the series, lots of work to do. Hope JoMo is back soon we NEED him. That said, I was a HUGE Pionk hater after last year and with the contract extension but big Neal has stepped up in his absence and I will gladly eat crow if last year was the irregularity with him. I know the Adam Johnson death hit him hard so hopefully he's in a much better place now.

Belated FFF from game 1: Definitely had to be Jets lackluster PP. Can't be laying eggs and going 0/4 on the PP and expect to win a series. The good news is that it's only been one game and we can learn a lot about the Stars matchup going forward from that. Put it this way, I'm less anxious about the coaching battle against Pete Deboer than I was with Monty.
JMo being back should help a bunch on special teams, too.
Mikey–I will definitely have a notepad with me when watching game 2 tonight and track how many times the offense ceases to exist as soon as the puck touches Appletons stick. Or worse, gets turned over lmao

Gotta agree with the caller, Ehlers and Vilardi haven’t been too good since coming back. They gotta use Vilardi more on the powerplay, I feel like part way thru the year they stopped going to him nearly as much. That’s where he’s at his best, he’s such a threat there whether he’s going in and scoring like he almost did in game 1, or finding a guy in the slot or across the crease
