Similar to the logic of "I made a mistake…" by selecting certain lottery numbers, because a different selection would have won the jackpot.
I know, this isn't quite that random, but the reality is that judging how good of a hockey player that an 18-year-old will eventually turn out to be is a lot more difficult than second-guessing those decisions after the fact.
