Sometimes a player that has natural talent and a superstar forward may not be as good of a coach that played up and down the line up or AHL who needed to study the game hard.
Yes there's baggage to clean up.
Most often, when there's a head coaching job, the season didn't go well. Stanley cup champions dont switch out coaches.
Frank 100% right Its up to Petey to fix himself
Foote can target an offensive minded assistant coach as well. Does Love or Maholtra fit that criteria?
Big Country again??? Is there something in the water here?!
Bring in Malhotra as his assistant coach, and I will be okay with it. Foote for Hughes and the team's defensive strategizing. Malhotra to develop the young players and the team's offensive game—hopefully a hybrid offensive system that blends the strengths of Tochet's strategy with fluent forward motion and puck movement through the middle and offensive zones, as well as pucks on net. Blend the best of the Vegas Golden Knights' defensive game with the best of the Oilers' offensive game.
Clearly Vancouver has been marked as less than desirable after last season… time for everyone to get to grips with reality… I think Foote is a wild card pick, but clearly a smart Hockey man so maybe he’s the next Larry Robinson
Time for this organization and media to clean up the shit…
First off, I like this move.
Secondly, if Hughes decides to leave, it will be because of guys like you that talk incessantly about how much of a prima donna he is, when he's never actually been anything close to one.
Oh no. If Hughes doesn't like it, he'll leave. If that's the kind of character he actually has, then fine, go. If it isn't, and I don't believe it is, you guys are just trolling for clicks and pissing people off.
Everyone on earth knows that it is princess Petey that needs to go. Away. Anywhere but here. For the love of God, trade him for anything!
Frank makes a lot of good points. I would argue, though, that the hiring of Foote suggests that the team is done with Petey & they've finally got ownership to accept he needs to be moved.
give footey a try, he's the defensive head honcho & now head coach for the whole team – if quinn likes him, he stays until quinn leaves (if he does
Boeser and Suter are UFA
If you take them out fwd core it's pretty bare. And you never know what kind Pettersson your going to get.
Clearly Tocchet talked to Hughes before leaving and impacted his decision.
2 teams that should rebuild
1. Vancouver and 2. NYI
2. Look at islanders fwds besides Horvat/Barzal it's full of 4th liners/AHL guys.
1. Similar in Vancouver maybe they should tank/trade what they have Debrusk/Hughes and get guys to fasten a rebuild. Maybe Demko can find his game.
Same with islanders the reason it's hard find a GM rn is what direction are they going rebuild or patch no names and prolong inevitable?
