  1. Willander is a perfect player for the Sharks to target. The issue is a trade only really works with us if the Canucks are interested in picks or prospects. Unfortunately I think they are more likely to trade Willander in a package to desperately get a 2C. But if they are open to a more futures package I would be willing to deal something like the Dallas pick + Bystedt

  2. Is Willander not one of the few if not last valuable trade chip they have? If they trade him they probably want to get their top6 center Rutherford is apparently on record for saying, maybe not as a centerpiece but in a package even. I don't see the Canucks doing a favor for a division rival, if they did the price would be higher. And I don't think Musty+Chernyshov is what they're looking for or even the caliber of trade they're looking for.

  3. So he’s a rich man’s Eric Pohlkamp? Same draft class and similar defensive partners. Pohlkamp had 11 more points this year and I don’t think Willander’s floor is as good as that old scouting report. Sharks need someone further along and a more sure thing if they’re going to trade a decent asset. Ok topic though

  4. I would do Halts + Dallas pick. I was hoping for a bigger jump from Halts this year and it didn't happen as much as I hoped. We need the D more than we need a 2nd PP 3rd line winger.

  5. Really like this Episode, JD. I'm currently high on the Sharks targeting K'Andre Miller. I think there's opportunity for the Sharks and Rangers to be trading partners.

  6. The Canucks are consistently inconsistent in all aspects so you never really know, but they do seem to be in the here and now type of position, although they keep trading or letting good players walk and don't replace them with equal talent, so maybe they are willing to do that here too!

  7. I think cagnoni sounds like the type of partner willander has thrived with in hutson, hutson, and pellikka

  8. Talk from the Canucks side is that they might look at packaging Willander and the 15th pick for a 1 or 2C. If the Sharks are interested in that we will take that kid Celebrini off your hands and bring him home Lol

  9. If Willander gets traded it won't be to the sharks.

We are not rebuilding and will not trade a potential top pairing Dman unless a high-,end Centre is coming back.

BTW Willander will be signed next week.

Not sure what you meant by do something normal for once especially in this context since we always have no issues signing our NCAA kids.

  10. Thanks for the episode JD and all your ideas for what the Sharks might be able to do this offseason. I like the idea of trading for Wallander as he was a player I was hoping they could have drafted back in 2023 but he got snagged.

I am very in the camp that if they can make a deal for him they should within reason. I am not sure the cost but maybe the Dallas pick and the late second round along with maybe Cardwell and/or Thompson or add Ferraro or Liljegren?

Still, I hope they can get a player like Nemec more than Wallander. Or both? I am not sure they could afford both, but imagine adding Nemec and Wallander?! It would set the right side of the defense for seasons to come and give the Sharks a very deep defensive prospect pool.

I also think they are both would play NHL minutes a season or so apart form one another. Wallander gets his ELC and is given a fair shot to make the Sharks and if not (most likely) plays on what will be a very good Cuda team (as they are adding Havelid, Musty, Lund, Chernyshov and Haltunnen).

Nemec I think immediately fits into the Sharks. It is an exciting thought, even if it is unrealistic. Imagine a defense in two season with Muk, Dickinson, Thrun and Cags on the left and Nemec, Wallander and fill in the blank on the right.

That sounds like a vast improvement over what they have now. I hope they can get one or both. Why add all those assets (picks, prospects, and cap space) and not use them to improve the team?

I say go for it GMMG!

  11. The price might start high and get lower of Vancouver really can't get something figured out. They dont just have the Dallas pick to work with, also Edmonton's 1st and Colorado's 2nd next year.

  12. The answer? No. Part of an answer? Could be. Doubtful the pick from the Stars would be adequate for a guy they selected 11th overall. I like the profile of a solid 2nd pair RHD, even if the offense is modest. The Sharks, assuming its Misa, should have plenty of firepower up front. A defender that gets the puck to Misa, Celebrini, Chernyshov, Smith, etc is fine by me.

  13. Great target for you but hard to see this being a fit. No chance we are trading him for a pick/prospects unless we somehow are packaging those assets immediately for a top 6 C. Zero chance you getting him for a late round pick and a middling prospect either. Him not wanting to sign has been completely overblown. His agent is using the noise in Van as leverage – there is nothing about him not wanting to sign there. If we are trading him a top 6 C or C prospect that is on the verge of playing and projects as a top six C are coming back. Not sure Bystedt has quite enough upside for us and outside of him not sure who you have as a C that we could target.

  14. I think with all the left shot, offensive upside d prospects we have, getting a 2nd pairing right shot guy that can just be awesome at defense without having to care much about the offense seems pretty awesomw. Maybe we trade the Dallas pick and bordeleau and have Vancouver use those assets to get a more win now guy.

  15. not much of a gamble. he's a good one. canucks have a boatload of good young defensemen makes him expendable. should get a decent return for him.

  16. Willander is getting packaged unless Celebrini is coming back in that package first won't get it done unless it's Sj's pick.

  17. hes a good trading chip but the sharks dont have much to offer the canucks. I dont see a trade with the canucks happening

  18. He's a shutdown defenseman, so probably will be like 30 point guy. Think mcdonough or slavin type guy at his peak. Also nucks needs a center so probably will only package him for that

  19. I'm not against trading for him but right now regardless if Schaefer falls to you at two you have $40 million on the cap so you immediately sign Jakob Chychrun.

  20. ok, you made this video @$$-backwards > don't drone on & on about a player (& all his stats/analytics, also trying to envision where/how he fits into the sharks organization) who's not even, if ever, on the team yet – focus on details of a potential trade, 1st & foremost – which you barely got into, briefly, way @ end of video #thumbsdown #nowillanderforsharks
