Les Jets de Winnipeg ont connu une année choquante. La meilleure équipe de toute la saison, les vainqueurs du trophée des présidents, ils ont fait un retour remarquable dans le match 7 contre les Blues au premier tour ces séries éliminatoires, mais ils ont officiellement vu leur saison se terminer hier soir contre les stars de Dallas. Bien que triste pour les fans de Jets, cela a pâli par rapport aux fans de hockey Heartbreak se sentait pour Mark Scheife au-delà du jeu. Avant la rondelle de la rondelle, les nouvelles ont éclaté du décès du père Marks, le père Brad, mettait en perspective à quel point la vie peut être fragile. Malgré la nouvelle, Mark a pris la glace en l’honneur de son père et a donné aux Jets une performance phénoménale, même en ouvrant le score en 2e période. C’était un objectif spécial et un moment spécial qu’il n’oubliera jamais. Malgré cela, les étoiles étaient super aussi et ont égalé le jeu peu de temps après. Un excellent match pour les deux gardiens à Oettinger et Hellebuyck signifiait que ce jeu avait besoin d’heures supplémentaires. Avec 15 secondes restantes dans la réglementation, Scheifle a été appelée à trébucher sur l’acier, ce qui a donné aux étoiles un jeu de puissance massif pour commencer OT. Harley a marqué le match de victoire et le but de la série avec 15 secondes à jouer sur le jeu de puissance alors que les Jets de Winnipeg ont été officiellement éliminés. C’était une scène déchirante car Scheifele a été réconfortée par Lowry, son équipe et l’équipe des Stars aussi dans un magnifique moment de ligne de poignée de main. The Jets simply couldn't win on the road in this years playoffs, that is why they are now out of the post season. For whatever reason they couldn't generate offence on the road to save their season despite the heroics of Scheifle trying his darndest to will the Jets. So it was kind of cruel to see him in the penalty box to watch that game winner go in.
I feel awful for the guy. Loses his dad, scores that goal, then is forced to take a necessary penalty just to have it end like that. Happy to see Benn take the extra time to talk to him, hopefully they squashed that beef.

As a Jets Fan who also lost his father young, I feel his pain. We may have lost, but I cant even be mad. Much respect to the Dallas Stars and their Fan base. Class acts! Best Part of last nights game was the Handshake line.

It’s not fair it’s disrespectful for Dallas to win after what happened to mark’s father. They needed to win for his dad it’s only fair. He can’t lose the series and his dad he deserved a better fate.

Glorifying Scheifele's decision is a dangerous idea. The next guy to face a similar situation may not want to play. It's a personal decision.
I don't question Mark's decision one bit. It was exclusively his. However, we ought to treat it as just that, a personal decision, not paint it in either a positive nor negative light.
If someone wants to sit out in a situation like this, he shouldn't feel pressured to "live up" to what someone else chose to do.

You can only imagine the conversations that Scheifele and his dad shared about hockey. The practices his dad must have driven him to for years. Watching his son get better and better, and knowing what the end goal was about. No doubt in my mind that his dad would have wanted him to give it his all. Thank you for raising an incredible son, sir. Mark is a hero to us all. 🙏
