  1. It doesn't work. The cap hit would be insane. Plus, the top 6 forwards are already smaller builds that don't play physical and are more set up on the outside type players. Marner would just make the wings weaker and less physical. Sure, he is very skilled and can produce points, but he does not fit the current roster with Detroit. Playoff hockey is a different beast of a game, and wings need bigger more physical power forwards not named RASMUSSEN LOL

  2. Yep. I would love to have those line up problems going into the playoffs. I would buy a Marner #61 Jersey any day of the week. If Vladi says let him use it… I would respect that 4 sure.😁GO WINGS!!!!!🏒

  3. Woodward Sports Big D Energy spent a whole hour discussing this yesterday. I recommend people watch it. Just type in Big D Energy and look for yesterday's date. The go over all of the issues.

  4. I'd rather get a top 6 forward and middle 6 with grit. Bennett and Marchand types. Detroit needs top 4 D as well. Overpaying for one player won't fix the swiss cheese holes.

  5. Feet on the ground in Detroit and I haven't heard a single Wings fan who would complain about it. You would be STUPID to not want him. We have the cap space and need a guy like him. This is the guy people complain we don't have. He is a two way player and a consistent 90 to100 points per season.

  6. If Yzerman can bring him on board and he wants to join the Wings it's a no brainer. They would use up a lot of cap and would need to move Raymond to the left side, but it should push them over the hump

  7. What has Marner won in the playoffs? The problem with Marner is that if you sign him that's it, you're done. No improving D or anything else. You get Marner and your RFAs. The biggest issue is: 180, 185, 190, 180, 180, 185 are the size of your top 6 forwards. And only really Kasper is physical. They are going to get bullied all day every day. Other teams will just check and grind and pummel the Wings. The same people clamoring for him will be whining went were exiting from the playoffs in the first round for the 3rd or 4th year in a row and crying that he's not living up to his $14m/yr contract. Do people not remember those Wings team in the 20teens? When Datsyuk, Hank, Hudler, etc… just got mauled constantly? That image of Weber slaming Hanks head off the glass and everyone watching is burned in my brain. Now people want to make us smaller and weaker. It just won't work. If you had a big tough bodyguard to play on a line with him maybe it's a different story?

  8. I'm conflicted because the Wings need help badly rather quickly, but I'm not a fan or Marner. I don't believe his play is consistent enough to demand such a high salary. But we need to start winning more games.
My love for the team for all these years tells me we should pass on Marner.
I'm glad I'm not Stevie and gotta make this call. Could mess up everything established.
