Seriously, why does kyper blow so much smoke up Marners asz. The guy can't be objective. Core 4 this core 4 that blame willy blame matthews but when it comes to marners woes, its anything but the individual. Even an injured matthews with a messed up back had more impact with a game winner in a knockout game. Willy was lights out first round. JT held his own for his age. It was marner who did nothing but soft little fluff points in games where they were already winning or getting apples on plays he really had nothing to do with
What difference does it make. What team they ice? The seats will be filled, and the team will make the most money in the league. Curse of Ballard.
I find all this completely ridiculous. This Leafs team is a dam good team. They finished fifth in the whole league and are probably the third or fourth best team. Go ask the Florida players. I know two of them and they will tell you that a few more bounces Toronto's way and this series would have gone their way. This is a good team. Keep adding to it. Unfortunately the best team in hockey is also in our division. No one else will take Florida to seven games. I agree those other teams werent good. But this Leaf team is. Yeah we lost. But we lost to the best and we scared them. Thats all you ask for other than winning. You are going to destroy this team until we are missing the playoffs every year again. BACK OFF!!!!
The problem with the Leafs is having 3 players Matthew's Marner and Nylander same kind of players making so much. If those 3 were different it would have been better. One or two should have been traded years ago it is overkill in one area
….great show…..when Shanahan brought in Dubas and Keefe….they were dynamic and is was seen through the players….leafs were stronger than before….💫

The problem was not the core four, it was the lazy and sloppy elder statesman: Rielly. The unaccountable Rielly! The low hockey I.Q, Rielly. The Leafs desperately needed/need a puck moving, play driving Defenceman and none of you in your Ivory towers could see it. No, blame Marner. No Marner, no more high scoring for Matthews. No Marner, no playoffs.
What a surprise: a Scooby managed team loses to Denmark…how can we blame Marner for that?
I'm 59 and the loafs have been a punchline for my entire life lol! This clownshow team has never won a 3rd round (haven't even made the 3rd round in 23 years) and has never played a game in June. COMPLETE CLOWNSHOW! They should change their name to FAILURE INC.
I feel about Shannahan same way I feel about Yzerman. Either president's plans haven't worked out even closely. And both have tried several coaches, GM's and assistant coaches in there. It's not them, it's your stubbornness to let Marners no move kick in. And other not that great decisions.

Shanahan did an okay job, but didn't learn from his failures. The team never evolved in a meaningful way beyond the core four. He refused to make the hard choices that were needed.

Shanahan stated when he started he wanted a team which was a top team every year . Exactly what he gave them . When I turned on the TV in the last few years in the regular season . There was a better than average chance they were going to win . Fans followed them to every city on the circuit
The failing of Shanahan was his refusal to accept his plan wasn't working and adjust. He changed everything except the core. They added depth, experience, toughness, and changed the coach multiple times. What else does a person need to see for reality to kick in?! He should have been fired when he decided to bring back Dubas. The way Dubas botched the contract situation with the core was atrocious and handcuffed the team.
He did his best, I don't blame him. This is about the players. They couldn't rise to the occasion.

I feel Graig Berube would be great GM for Toronto. He would hire big and strong players (who can grind when it matters) like his St Luis Blues team. There are many kind on skill, puck handlind and passing are only a few of them.
That's the problem with Leafs Nation. When they fire the guy who failed, yes, he failed badly, to get them the Stanley Cup, they get all soft. "Oh, he was such a good guy." Nooooo. Did he win you the Cup? Again, noooo. Toughen up.

58 years is a damn long time not even to play in the Stanley Cup finals let alone winning or losing the series .
The team made the playoffs, that is not the be it and end all. The Stanley Cup is the Prize.
Always saying maybe next year for nearly a full 6 decades is where people who are invested in the team lose their patience always being laughed at by other teams fans. They put the team on a short lease.
Unfortunately, Florida is a steam roller, they just beat Carolina in their rink and embarrassed them. Had the Leafs not played so bad in game 5 and 7 fans wouldn't be so angry….but they didn't show up.

Its not Shanahan's fault that Marner had a no trade clause in his contract. He had the deal for Rantenen for Marner and a 1st Rounder and Marner blocked it. Plain and simple.
Funny enough, if they won Game 7 they would have renewed his contract. Like look at what the Cats are doing to Carolina…Domination
Wowzer….I have seen 4 cup-winning teams, seen 3 parades down Bay Street . However, what I cannot believe is the total lack of commitment in our team. It's not a matter of winning or losing, it's the question of trying till you are bleeding/broken bones, etc. All of the aforementioned will heal with time, but the embarrassment will last for years after this season is a distant memory. As for our so-called stars (Nylander, Tavares, Marner, Mathews), they are overpriced athletes and obviously I would bench this group to the fourth line- that's right, the fourth line! To watch Nylander float waiting along for the perfect pass, Mathews waiting for Marner to pass to him(and no one else), Tavares trying his guts out. What Toronto needs is another team in the GTA-yes we have the population to support another team. Small note- I actually applied to the Leafs for a position in player development(played the game on ice for 55 years-lightning@rogers.com)

I understand the frustration by the fans but what is "winning"? Taking the Panthers, who look like they're cruising through the playoffs now, to the brink of elimination is an incredible feat. Winning the Stanley Cup is hard! But maybe what is way harder is to change your ways under a new system/ philosophy! This is objectively the first year they have been pushed to change from a fitness team to be asked to a grinding team. Be aware if you break it down too soon, you may get it wrong. 10 years with a group or even 1 year with a new system isn't really a long time. Don't be surprised if they get rid of Marner and Tavares and not make the playoffs for 2 years. It only takes an injury to Matthew's next year and who can carry the team in his absence?
Likely Leafs will be the only team taking FL to Gm7… so #2 of 31 teams. Media & fans should have some perspective… Fine if mgt chg… but they did very well…. vs the very bad that the entitled media & fans demand like spoiled brats – represent TO well.
Dump Matthews and Tavares, Marner is already gone. Make Willy Nilly the captain and Domi the alternate along with Knies. The identity of the Leafs as an outsider is they are wimpy, wimpy, wimpy like that trash bag commercial years ago. You look at Florida, they are not wimpy. 60 goals is great in the regular season but it will never get you Lord Stanley. Time for some grit in the lineup and dump the twinkle toe players.

I think the fans are becoming concerned that the internal expectations HAVE actually been met, and the disconnect is between a satisfaction despite failure and a fan desire to see much much more
