1. I think what they lacked in the playoffs is just finishing. They need to score more. They get a shoot first top 6 winger and I think that solves the playoff issues. The D looks great, if Jensen is healthy, doesn't need any changes IMO

  2. Sure Ottawa, you made the playoffs, and now you just need to keep making the playoffs.
No need to build to win more than a round or two. Just keep making the playoffs, nobody cares about anything more than that.
    Hold on, I'm being handed a note from Toronto . . .

  3. i hope ottawa can find a playmaker forward and they can find a way to get stutzle to be a powerhouse goal scorer like they had wanted. it feels like ottawa has hit their skill ceiling with the current lineup. i dont see them getting further than the second round in the next few years but thats ofcourse nothing to scoff at

  4. If Marchand played for Sens and Sens met Leafs again…what would happen? Marchand 5 and 0 against Leafs in playoffs…Leafs 5 and 0 against Sens in playoffs. Something would have to give.

  5. Ottawa needs to make the big investment so they don't stall as a team which makes the playoffs for a while, but never advances. Not sure the FA market will get it done this offseason, but maybe next? They've got a lot less cap space than one might expect given their recent track record

  6. Definitely a success this year. There is lots of room for growth with young core.

Depending on giroux $. Id love to see them in on ehlers/marchand or bennett.

One of those 3 would round out the top 9 quite well. And forces perron or amadio to 4th line making that line better too

A d upgrade on right side would be ideal too. But imo top 6 forward one or two Depending on giroux is p#1

  7. I think Ottawa is a good team but it is a tough team. There's still Florida, my Leafs, Tampa at the top. Montreal is also in a similar situation to the Sens. I don't think Boston will be down long. And we'll see about Buffalo and Detroit. Ottawa has a good thing going.

  8. I think the Sens need a 4th line guy that can play the PK. Our 4th line had no identity this season with Gudette-MacEwen(up/down)-Gregor-Cousins(hurt)-Amadio-Highmore. With Jensen needing surgery, they may need to focus on an RD since I doubt Hamonic returns and Yak isn't ready (probably).

  9. The land they want to build on is NCC conservation land. It's hard getting anything done on that land. The subway that Ottawa is building needed to be built directly under a road that existed in order to keep the greenspace intact.

Probably not going to be a lot of parking on LeBretton Flats…just saying.

  10. Other than a few more years of experience and the improvement of their young core, Ottawa needs a few things to compete. Yakemchuk needs to become a legit top 4 defenseman, Stutzle needs to take another step and they need to add a top line winger somehow.

  11. I think the Sens will keep Forsey as back up to Ullmark while Merileinan perfects his skills in Belleville just to be safe

  12. In 2012, the Devils had to give up their pick that year or the next for the Kovalchuk contract. They kept their 29th pick in '12 (which I thought was a stupid idea) only for the nhl to change their minds about the penalty for 2013 by giving them the 30th pick instead of nothing. Maybe Ottawa is hoping for the same here

  13. Sens are built properly. They must be smart with their cap space. If we can get some impactful players and MOST importantly, if the players can all take a step forward in their individual play, the Sens will be a force to be reckoned with next year.

  14. Adding someone to play with Sanderson is a must. That way they can really improve the depth on the blue line moving zub down to play with Kleven as a shut down pair potentially.

A top 6 forward would also help alleviate some pressure off the top 6.
    Brady-Timmy-XXXX
    Perron-Cozens-Batherson

Giroux coming back on a team friendly contract to play situationally (win face offs and help the 2nd PP unit while being on the 4th line) could be a great move. Specially given how successful that 3rd line was

  15. Chabot proved last year why he was leaned on for so long playing 25-30 min. He’s an excellent defenseman and he doesn’t need to throw the body every play to be one. Seems like wear and tear over the previous few seasons got to him and his play, but structure and some more support is getting him back into form.

  16. I don’t think the history from over 20 years ago applies to this Sens team. We went down 3-0 and two of those were OT victories for the Leafs – Sens win either of those and the Leafs probably wouldn’t have won. I’m willing to forgive Ottawa losing the first game, as a lot of playoff first-timers can be told what to expect, but they need to actually play that first game to know what the playoffs are capable of being.

The future looks great, although the worst case scenario is that we pull a Vancouver. Haha

  17. The biggest positive has been the new ownership of Andlauer. Great pieces to the organization have been added and steady progress has been made. So looking forward to next season! Go Sens!

  18. If Nick Jensen is healthy at the start of the 25-26 season then I don't think Ottawa should sign a top 4 defencemen but they definitely need a top 6 forward with a shooters mentality.

  19. I still believe us having to give up a first is total crap. In my opinion the stars preyed on the Senators knowing there could potentially be another Cale makar situation. Literally took them 2 seasons to notice oh well we can extort them for some free value which nothing wrong with that we made a questionably illegal trade I can live with that. But the fact that Dallas tried to dump dedonov to who knows who (exactly what Ottawa did) then when they found out he actually has a NTC they moan to Gary Bettman and essentially got a top 6 forward and a 1st round pick for chump change. Make it make sense Gary 😂

  20. Honestly, I think they should try to keep Forsberg. He has proved to be a decent back-up. A bit inconsistent, but fine if not leaned on too heavily. If they would go with Ullmark and Merilainen they would be in big trouble as soon as one of them gets injured. Let Merilainen develop for one more season as a number 1 in the AHL and call him up when needed.
