The Hurricanes for some reason just cannot seem to keep the composure towards the end. It seems like every 3rd period the team just completely collapses, and the Panthers just seem to know this and capitalize on it and get rewarded immensely. I mean holy fuck, 2 goals in 30 seconds and then another goal to take the lead in under 4 minutes is unacceptable.
The bright side is, what Tripp said earlier in the video; during pre season, even making the playoffs would be great and anything after that is a bonus. We missed Chatty dearly and Morrow was thrown into a situation that you just cannot blame him, and Nikishin as well. Never played a game in the NHL and looked great. Next season will be the true test, can the front office make the correct decisions and learn from our mistakes? No one is really here to blame, we have to accept that the Panthers are just incredible. But we have to be better and I'm sure we can.
You can’t just say “well it was 1-1 in the 3rd period of game 3 they could’ve won that game” followed by “they won game 4”, as if it wasn’t a 1 goal game that could’ve gone either way. The fact of the matter is, the canes were never really in this series at any point.

Maybe you need more size and some tweaks in the lineup…and Nikischin’s first full season. I think Bennett leaves and Cats won’t make the finals so you will likely battle the Leafs… Florida is kind of unique in the way they give up breakaways and Bob stops a lot of them. Also they are poor on face offs. Maurice says Canes have the same philosophy but handle gaps differently.
