1. Sure glad Yzerman let ghost and his offense go, then he went to Goodwill and got a stiff who brought nothing. Fantastic. These playoffs have made it real clear that EVERYONE on the team needs to hit opponents the whole game not just 3-4 players occasionally .

  2. Unfortunately, the Wings will need need to pursue whoever is willing to sign in Detroit. Ekblad wouldn't be ideal, but our ideal options are likely heading elsewhere.

  3. You guys are right about Ekblad but how close is Stevie to making this dream come true? NONE of us know. We'll do some Swede shopping and if that does work out we can always look for young German takend. Maybe we'll get lucky

  4. As for Red Wing culture: I remember Cleary bragging about the fact that the Wings hired "women" to coach skating this past pre-season (DEI nonsense). He and that entire soft mentality HAS to GO! F*ck Cleary. Lack of "women" in the organization is what they are worried about?

  5. If Ekblad came to Detroit he would instantly be the best blue liner they have so this idea of Seider still be 1st pair is really weird.

  6. His injury concern. Suspension for ped and he’s slow. When he’s actually on the ice he is a solid defenseman. But those are pretty big concerns for someone who will command some big money. How much impact did those ped have on his game. How long was he taking them. Will he regress faster without them. Will he get hurt more.

  7. I saw Ekblad play for the Barrie Colts in the OHL and he was outstanding. I reckon he either stays on a 3yr deal in Florida, or move to Toronto. He will want to stay with a playoffs team and sadly we're not there yet.

  8. Great to have you guys together again. The injury history is significant esp considering he is not a young player and will be seeking top dollars. Buyer be aware! Great show. Ray L

  9. Ekblad would certainly add physically which we need. However Garikov should be the major focus or a trade for Byram. Rasmus Andersson in trade from Calgary could be another option.

  10. Maybe even Brent Burns, eh? JK
Why not Gavrikov or Provorov? They're young, good solid blueliners and have higher ice time than most D-men. Ekblad will come with a price, and we need bangers, Ekblad is injury-prone and could end up being a waste of money. Watching last night's game, he was down a step, looking like he was already hurting. Nah, we need youth AND stamina along with grit and grind.
Not a goon, but we sure could use intimidation. Konstantinov class, someone who makes beauties keep their heads up. Kronwall style.

  11. Honestly if the D core is some combination of:

    Gavrikov/Ekblad
    Edvinsson/Seider
    Chiarot/Johansson

That’s actually a huge improvement over last season

  12. I can also see Yzerman trying hard to trade for Kyle Connor (Michigan kid who golfs with Larkin in off season).

Think it may go like Connor lets WPG know he wants to go to hometown next UFA so rather than lose him for nothing…

    Wings get Kyle Connor

    WPG gets

    13th OA,

Nate Danielson (9th overall in 2023)

Elmer Soderblom (kind of a unicorn boom or bust lotto ticket. Has shown skill and is 6'8 but working on consistency. Still he's an RFA with contract control which a team like EDM wants)

    2nd Rounder

    The ability to re-sign Ehlers

Basically they gain Nate Danielson (likely a second line center in NHL), a high first rounder, an interesting lotto ticket in Soderblom, and a 2nd for choosing to keep Ehlers over Connor
