U ain’t getting Bennett forget it.
He may have been good in the last couple playoffs… but he has a career high of 51 points and is about to be 29. Not even close to a ppg player in his career.. or in the playoffs over all, any GM that gives him 10mil with term should get fired.
Previous two years Petersson more than doubled him in points both years, Petersson has 121 more career points 221 less games… just for some perspective… and people are losing their minds about his 11.6.. when its likely he just had a down year from an injury.
I'm not saying I wouldn't take Bennett but this 10 mil talk is batshit crazy.. unless its for a team with lots of space while already being a contender and the term is maybe 2 years then ok go for it.
I don't see Bennett wanting to come here, without making him the highest paid player in the NHL. Burning up all the cap to bring him in is a bit like doing whatever Nashville did in the last offseason. This isn't the time to go big game hunting, when there are so many teams after so few free agents. This is the time when the Canucks need to be focused on addressing the holes in their roster, and figuring out where they're going with Demko and Petey.
