  1. I am optimistic about this. I was on team Mitch Love out of the choices we were given. Dan Muse seems to have a better resume and similar positives. I don't understand people who wanted Love and are not positive about this hire.

  2. There was one article that mentioned Muse in the Penguins' search. But none of this should surprise you with Dubas. All of the trades he's executed so far weren't being talked about or linked previously…he keeps his cards close to his chest

  3. This was a great choice, kept low profile. People just started to fall in love with the name Love. Muse has a much longer and more impressive track record of developing talent with Team USA. First time USA won the tournament in a very long time. If we are looking to develope draft picks and future talent, Muse is a level above Love IMO. This is the official "Rebuild" stamp by Dubas, not trying to retool and win for Sid.

  4. Puck pressure and puck support are our biggest needs. Hopefully he can get us playing right.

I really wish we still had DOC, too. I wonder if Muse would have been able to help develop him more. His potential was through the roof in my eyes.

  5. I was thrown off by this hire at first mainly because I have no clue who he is honestly lol, but after looking into him he's been coaching for a long time at various levels despite how young he is, he's got experience. This definitely feels like it signifies what Dubas keeps saying about "going young" because it seems like Muse's area of expertise is teaching college kids.

  6. Tactically, unless he's unexpectedly adaptable, it's a disaster in the context of the roster. That said, the development, special teams, and defensive mind make him someone Zito would have hired. So there's that.

  7. Another thing is this proves Dubas is very good about keeping things tightlipped, because pretty much no one was mentioning Dan Muse as a candidate. I seen his name thrown out there maybe once, as opposed to Smith, Love, and Woodcroft who everyone was speculating.

  8. i take panthers in 7 cause heyman is huge lost and also its up to skinner like if skinner get 2 bad games i think panthers win and if bob pays good yet agian then it also

  9. He will change the way they play in their own zone. He's detailed-oriented and structured. Unfortunately, he will allow for less freedom in the defensive zone. While this could improve high danger chances and goals against, it could also limit transition and offense for a team already limited by transition and offense.

  10. I’m very optimistic. I didn’t know much about Dan Muse until I read up on him after they announced the hire, and the more I read about him the more I liked what I saw.

You have to give Kyle Dubas his credit. He’s stuck to what he was looking for. He said at the press conference after they announced that they had parted ways with Mike Sullivan that he was looking for a coach that was very strong into player development, and the track record that Dan Muse has with all of the players that he has helped develop in the United States national development program gives me a lot of optimism with the young talent that’s going to be coming through the Penguins over the next few years.

Really looking forward to his introductory press conference when that takes place. I agree with you Hunter when I heard that he’s big into analytics that got me. Excited because I kind of agree with you. This organization has been in dire need of fresh ideas over the last few years whether it’s been the front office or behind the bench.

  11. I will say I would’ve had all of my money bet on Mitch Love getting this job, but when June 1, and even the second came and went, and the coach wasn’t announced, I started thinking that the guy that they hired was going to be somebody that none of us expected.

Really I’m curious to see how he rounds out his staff and who he brings in as assistant coaches .

  12. Tbh. I know nothing about dan muse. Just glad its not a retread coach. 1st time head coach and new system is what pens needed. Tbd how he does but some new blood is welcome
