Sorry Connie,Henri Richard is on the Cup 11 times.
And after this began the longest losing streak in history
It’s fascinating to think that no one would know we would be here in 2025 (which at that time would have seemed unfathomably far in the future!) and the Leafs would still have not won the Cup since!!
Legends All great video.
Ahhh the good old days when they actually won
George looks a little bit like Mark Messier
Has it been that long. The only footage they have from the last cup is in black and white.
Now those are leaders.
Jean Beliveau once said that losing the 1967 Final was the greatest disappointment of his professional hockey life.
I remember Ward Cornell on CBC. He did a great job. This was back when networks realized it was enough to have just one person in the studio between periods. Then it became two, three, four…talking head inflation.
I was seven years old when I watched this game in 1967, and you guessed it, it was in black and white. It was actually very easy to follow the puck on a black and white TV set. Puck was black ice was white. Clocks ticking, and I hope to see Toronto win the cup again one day, and you guessed it, this time it will be in color.
Cheif Army , Pully, Allan, Sawchuck, Horton, the big M, Keon . I remember and saw all these hockey greats play
One thing I really love in all the interviews is how much respect they gave to the Montréal Canadiens and their fans and they made a point of making that the first comment that they made. The players were so classy and so wonderful. I was at that game that night and it was the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen. And see the beautiful silver of the cup out on the ice was an Image I will never forget. This has been so wonderful to watch because I didn’t see these interviews because I was at the gardens and hanging around and waiting to meet the players afterwards for autographs and it’s just wonderful to revisit. I think they should show this to the current medical beliefs and say look at this, take a moment, and soak it up.
True champions.
What Frank was really trying to say was “ it will be a really long time before we see a Stanley Cup in Toronto again” . Who knew he could tell the future?
Being an avid hawk fan at the time I absolutely hated these guys… but watching this made me realize they really were super nice kids that were truly special athletes
Poor Terry Sawchuk. He looked very unhealthy in this video. Like he was going to die, which he eventually did 3 years later.
is it just me, or is the indigenous captain of the maple leafs being treated with great respect (well deserved btw) in 1967 … i thought we were all racists back then?
Chose the Leafs(maybe they choose you) as my team in 1970. I'm 63 and am PRETTY SURE I'll never see the Leafs come out on top. An older cousin used to tell me about this great team. When I was a kid Keon was the closest thing I ever really had to a sports idol:a towel,a coffee mug, cards, etc. About 20 years ago,I think,CBC showed this game and others from that playoff year in color. Rare. I know FAR TOO MUCH about the rot that was setting in with the Leafs even as they were winning Cups. Sad. Most of it didn't have to happen and shouldn't have happened. The fellas won despite Imlach. They hated his guts. Wonderful victory.
Great player…but they won a 6 team intramural league. Some day the Leafs will win a real cup.
@2:15 I'll raise your Smythe 11 to Richard 19 and Belliveau 17.
Can you imagine what these players would say if I came out of a time machine and told them in the year 2025 the Leafs still haven't won a cup since you guys won it today 😂
Thank you for posting this 💕💕
What a wonderful trip down memory lane 💕💕💕
