I'm pretty sure if a Canadian team doesn't win 10-0 the fans hate the goalie. Just seems to be a Canadian thing /shrug

I'm still pissed off – Ekholm's stick goes flying is what gave them the win, the first goal, sure the Oils should have brought it back to 4-1 in their favour but that first goal and ignored penalty was so frustrating I'm sure it didn't leave the Oils mind the whole time, I'm still angry about it this morning, thinking officiating is going to give the cup to Florida on a satin pillow.
I mean how many times do the fans expect Skinner to make a save on breakaway chances?
The Panthers are doing what always has caused Edmonton extreme headaches. They are taking away time and space. Whether in offensive or defensive zones the oilers get zero time to make those fancy passes and plays. Florida are always on the player with the puck immediately. Especially in the oilers end. With a defence thats fairly weak they get them scrambling and running around. Oilers D always shoots the puck around the boards to a forward on the 3/4 Wall. Immediately as soon as the Florida D sees this the D on that side immediately rushes on to pinch. They then block the clearing attempt and maintain puck possession. ThE Oilers keep doing this. Florida continues to do this. The Oiler … NEED TO STOP USING THAT TYPE OF CLEARING ATTEMPT … IT DOESNT WORK. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!!! IT DOESNT WORK … ITS SO OBVIOUS !!!
The series changed in the second period once Florida found their game. The crushing blanket forecheck game and the ability to not give the Oilers time to make fancy plays. Other teams did this style of play a few times but not consistently.
If Florida can maintain that style of play … this series won’t go past 5-6 games.
Plus the fact the Oilers were VERY LUCKY last night. Several break aways, pucks sliding through Skinner to hit the post or shot behind him etc.
You can just sense this type of luck might be running out. And with it the Oilers hope of coming back. Double OT losses are always very tough to come back from.

This felt like the longest hockey game ever with how stop and start it was and how much OT we got.

Not to be “that guy” but the refs blew a too many men call on Florida by like 2 whole seconds.
I’m so glad you called out the Oilers stalling. It’s been a consistent thing so far through 2 games and it’s maddening as a fan. Good game going, there some momentum building, and then suddenly they start acting like baffoons to get McDavid more rest and the refs are too lost to do anything about it. Makes for an awful viewing experience.
What was with the ice last night? Players (on both teams) kept falling all over. The puck was bouncing funny (more than usual)
There are alot of oilers fans,not all,who last game said oilers in five ,and some said a sweep!All I can say the provinces of Canada have not won a Stanley cup since 1993!Keep your mouths shut,until you carry the hardware!I am rooting for the oilers,but the wear and tear of the last three years might take its toll on the panthers,other wise if the panthers stay the course,and the grit ,and Borworsky in goal ,it could be curtains for the oilers,just my opinion!
Until,you play the goaltender position,and understand what is involved,please shut up,skinner played well,Borowsky played better,but don’t blame the goaltenders,especially Skinner!Experience ain’t the easiest teacher but it is the best,these men became NHL,goaltenders because they have a lot of talent,a lot of mental fortitude involved in playing the goaltender position!I played along time at the position,not at the pro level,because I was not good enough,end of story!!!
Floridas depth showing. Top 3 players without goals or assists and they still win. Barkov, Reinhart and Tkachuk needs to step up, if they want to keep this going.
Nice of the Refs to overlook the “Too many men on the ice” in the 2nd OT by the Cats.

this is an incredible series. I felt like I watched 2 games last night. Panthers winning in 5 if game 3 is another OT classic and FL wins it. I think Edmonton's close to mental and physical exhaustion. Florida is comfortable with it. This is what they do.
Oilers have trailed in the third both games.

Biggest difference between these two teams is that the Panthers need to aggregiously cheat to win games. Double OT too many men on ice, kicking sticks, "accidentally on purpose" falling into Stu, and the list goes on. Need I say more?
Any Panthers win will be tainted by their cheap, dirty shit. They CAN'T win clean.

Thank you for questioning the criticism on Skinner. I can't understand how people blame him for so much. It is so rare that a goal is the sole fault of the goalie. Have people just started to expect goalies to make game saving saves every game every shot? Because that's impossible. The skill level of today's NHL shooters is ridiculous. I don't care if Roy himself in his best game is in net, if you let good shooters launch pucks at him: some are going to go in.
