1. I want a right handed forward. There are a few that will hit the open market, but Marner is by far and away the most talented right handed forward to be available in free agency.

Do I think LA can land him? No idea.

I am only concerned with finding a right handed forward because that is LA's most pressing need.

  2. On tge coaching. I would like to flip Brown.

Wasn't really excited when he was hired and so far he hasn't impressed me.

    We'll see moving forward.

  3. I was just thinking cause the signing talk , had rantanaan come here , maybe we do get passed Edmonton, we did much better then Dallas ! And maybe he’s playing for a cup right now ?…….

  4. You forgot Pavol Demitra. He was a great player and a big UFA signing by Dave Taylor.

The fact is big name signings RARELY, if ever, play real dividends to any team. It almost always ends in disappointment and a huge contract burden. I would bet it’s a 20% max success rate. All the team’s expectations/woes are instantly dumped on that ONE player. Like the title suggests, it’s more of a flashy movie, to sell tickets, than it is a calculated move in support of a meaningful strategy. If anything, it’s an attempt at a quick fix of a big problem. Shortcuts never work.

The UFAs you cited that worked out successfully for the Kings were mostly solid, character support players. Willie Mitchell was a beast in LA. He wasn’t expected to carry the team though. He was expected to play solid defense and provide leadership, which he (and Scuderi) did.

Trades, on the other hand, are calculated. They require more investment of time, resources, and analysis b/c resources will be exchanged/deleted from one’s own team.

So, you fill areas of weakness with support players with UFA signings. You fill seats (at least for one season) with a big name UFA signing.

WHY do the Kings need a “historic” signing? Have you seen Florida and Edmonton play? What would Mitch Marner do to stop that (other than make solid backhand blind passes to Florida)?

I ask again, what big name UFA signing

  5. if the Kings get Marner, it will be a complete and total WASTE of money! PLEASE (as others here have said, Stop it!) Be SMART with the money, go out and get 3 or even 4 really good, young, big, grinders! LA wants a cup, not a name.

  6. Martin Necas trade if he signs a long term contract? Colorado has to trade someone and he is a right shot C/RW. He could play RW next year then move to center the following season. Probably Moore and picks?

  7. Problem is when these players get to choose where they sign I think they opt to stay close to home. My guess is that the farther you go the less free agent signing you will find. My hope is they sign Gavrakov, Kuzmenko & land Bennett in free agency

  8. Why would anyone want to sign with a California or Canadian team due to significantly higher taxes?

  9. You need bruisers
You got bullied by the oilers
And you out scored oilers 3 games if I am not mistaken

  10. MARNER CANT PLAY IN THE PLAYOFFS. WE DON’T KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT PAST THE FIRST ROUND. WE NEED A PLAYOFF PERFORMER NOT A BIG NAME

  11. Okay, Eddie, stop it! The Kings did this before. They got a superstar, first with Marcel Dionne and then, the best of them all, Wayne Gretzky. No Cups. As the late, great Herb Brooks said, "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right players. There's your formula for a Stanley Cup team. Whether it's through the draft or signing a free agent or making a trade for the right players!

  12. If they can't resign Gavrikov maybe look at K'Andre Miller. Looks like the Rangers wanna move him he's younger and probably cheaper than Gavrikov and stats are comparable.

  13. I hope the kings get Marner…it will ensure that they do not go very far in the playoffs for at least 7 years.

  14. The last thing this team of post-season choke artists needs is another post-season choke artist
