  1. Would suck to lose him but he’d be a perfect 3rd pairing D for a contender if they’re willing to give us good value back for him.

  2. I am in agreement. It makes no sense to trade Ferraro. But, to say Ferraro is one of the best defensive defensemen is such an overstatement.

Like others have said, Ferraro is a third pair defenseman on most all playoff teams.

But I like him and am curious what they will do between now and next seasons TDL.

My hope is they add, not subtract from what they have unless it is for a clear upgrade.

I could see him as an assistant captain but doubt he’ll be captain.

    My best guess is Toffoli.

  3. Not sure what is shocking about this news. He has been part of trade rumors for the last 2 years. I for one would like to keep him. He is still young and provides a ton of leadership and grit. Would love to see him here as the Sharks begin the new era of domination.

  4. Mario has never been very Super. He leads in blocked shots because he gets caught out of position and sliding for home plate is his only chance. A lotta heart, but not the skill level to match. Six million would buy a much better d-man…

  5. Believe it when I see it! Talk of Mario being traded has gone on for the past four seasons and nothing! I love both Macklin and Mario, but captain? Ah no!! It's time this team has a real captain! Bring in someone that fits the role in the classic sense. Big, strong, great hands, huge difference maker at the dire times in the game, commands respect from the players and opponents! This team deserves that!

  6. If we can unload him for what you are thinking then ship him out. He's underperformed and is certainly not worth holding onto if we get that return.
