If every day was as fun as watching this video, our relationship would be perfec🧡
I'm not saying I'm indecisive, but my dating profile has more options than a fast food menu💖
First! Can’t wait for the stars to lose in the wcf again!
Toews to jets😮
Im going to say something crazy. Bourque is the next Bennett.
Dallas Stars fan. These are great young guys. They both didn't get a fair shake because Pete DeBoer preferred veteran players. Nils was actually having a great year last year til he had a season ending shoulder surgery. If he continues on that path he'll be a perfectly respectable bottom 4 D, and more importantly, is a pick mover. That's what we need, guys who can date the puck out of the zone. Heiskanen and Harley can't play 60 minutes a game. He could really be a factor if the new coach gives him a chance.
Borque has a tendency to just continue to get better every year he plays. I expect him to probably double his point totals. Ebd of the year saw him being one of the few Dallas Stars who insisted on going to the net and the hard areas to try to make plays.
Stars fan: Both didn't have DeBoer's trust, new coach will help. As for that coach, I like the guy in Denver, but I trust Jim.
Love my boy Nils, he is hockey royalty in my hometown because he played here but also his uncle is a legend for my hometown team.
As a Stars fan.
Nils took a huge step last year at all the boring stuff… then had a season ending injury. Under Pete, he seemed to be the whipping boy on D, especially with his size, so he never got a shot. Now though, he could easily play top 4 minutes and hes a good fail safe if (god forbid) miro or harley get hurt for some pp qb time.
Bourque on the other hand is primed for a breakout. This guy win AHL MVP that year Adam talked about, and was the leading scorer his final year in the Q. He is already in the top 10-20% of the league with his defensive skills (according to JFRESH) so it is logical to assume that more minutes would equal more offence. Two great moves by Nill, and these two guys PLUS Duchene for ~6.75 mill is nuts, he might win ANOTHER GMOTY award
Keep an eye on the Colorado college coach that turned down the Chicago job, the Dallas job is a way better situation and he could change his mind
Meaningful analysis nice
The Stars have always kind of struggled to give proper playing time to young players who don't pop immediately. Nils reminds me so much of Julius Honka who shriveled on the vine because he couldn't get playing time, was punished hard for mistakes and then would get injured everytime he showed flashes. It's not an isolated incident. The Stars are almost too good at drafting for their own good, and so they just have too little patience at time because of that. So hopefully Mav and Nils can get the icetime they need to develop their NHL game.
That said, I don't know if Maverick has a top 6 NHL'er in him. I just don't see the magic in his game. You don't need to put up points immediately for me to see a future, but I have to see the spark here and there and when I watch Mav I just see a guy. But I hope I'm wrong because we are going to desperately need a cheap forward to play top 6 minutes when we hopefully can get rid of one of our expensive players. Even if we don't trade Robertson this year, players like Seguin are basically gone as soon as the contract is up. A good, affordable top 6 forward and some depth defense are basically the two mandatory need, so the space for both of these players is wide open.
As for the coach, any good coach who can implement a different, more balanced system. It is my opinion that the Stars keep getting dumpstered late in the playoffs because the system drains them. It requires them take on water. You don't need to sacrifice puck posession for good defense anymore, you can have both, just look at the Panthers. It feels like we've had the same coach over and over again ever since Ruff was fired. Different white dude, with the same system. It gets you into the playoffs, it even gets you wins against better teams once you're in. But it wears you down and by the third round your team looks awful every year because the pop has been grinded out of them. But that's just my anecdortal view from the couch so 🤷♂
I think that Ceci is a UFA
They will both be perfectly fine in the regular season when teams play fancy hockey.
In the playoffs when teams play bigboy hockey they will get crushed.
Again
Nils actually looked very good this season (defensively at least, which was his main problem in prior years). The season-ending shoulder injury he suffered really hurt us, so I am very happy with the deal and giving him another chance to prove himself. Borque has Stankoven level potential to me as well, can definitely pan out to be a solid top 6 guy
you do have the head of someone likely to sabotage a biology project at greendale community college…
also nil is so saavy with his moves with the cap gymnastics
my top choice for the dallas coaching position is peter laviolette… he would bring a needed next step and accountability to the team
Adam, Nils was hurt for more than half of last year, OFC HE WOULD HAVE PREFERRED NOT TO BE! Lmao
Volume is a little whack
From a Stars fan, love your channel and appreciate your hockey IQ. Agree that GM is awesome. No doubt Nils and Bourque will get more playing time. Nils needs to show he is at least average in defensive role. I think he will be an above average points guy for a defenseman. Bourque as you stated needs more games at NHL level to get better. He is a skilled with the puck.
I like bringing these guys back on the cheap. Need to move Dumba and probably Lybushkin or something to get some more space and sign one more proper top 4 dman
Stars fan checking in: I literally enjoyed every moment of the Stanley Cup Finals. Watching Florida strangle Edmonton was the balm to soothe the burn after the Oilers eliminated the Stars.
But here's the thing: I want the Stanley Cup. Do the STARS want the Stanley Cup? Are we going to be deep enough, learn fast enough, to take Florida's game and shove it right back? Because that's what teams need to do.
I'm sure that Mavrik Bourque really wanted to stay in Dallas, because I think that many teams would be happy to give him a 1 year 1.5 million offer sheet if he hadn't signed this contract with Dallas.
What if they brought Madano on to coach?
I think we need them to be good, but they’re not what’s going to get us over the hump. We need more than one play style on offense and more size on defense.
Ekblad to the Stars?
i dont understand why they kept Nils. he was a healthy scratch both this playoffs and last playoffs for the likes of alex petrovic and ilya lyubushkin. not what you want from a guy you paid a 1st round pick for
