I don’t care for the Hawks trading for Andre. Yes, he’s won 2 Cups, but he hasn’t stayed healthy and his time in Seattle was forgettable.
Don’t see too many one player for one player trades these days.

This has been on hell of a bender for the Panthers. They've probably had more drinks in the last week than I will have in my entire life.
Don't want to add to the workload, but along with cap space, the number of players signed would be useful.
I think Seattle was just a really bad fit for Burakovsky. Sometimes a player just ends up in a system or with other players that just don't work well for them. I think it's a good bet for Chicago that a change of scenery will boost his value.

I know he's 35 now, but TJ Brodie fell off so quickly. He was good in Toronto but became almost unplayable in Chicago
Brodie had some good season with the Flames. He was one of those defensemen who made a lot of good plays but it seemed every time he made a goof it ended up in the net. Every defenseman makes mistakes but some guys' mistakes don't always end up as goals. Brodie seemed like a good guy and seemed to take the bad breaks very hard which made me always root for him, but there were a lot of "oh no, not again" moments.

Interesting note in NHL 25 I traded for Joe Veleno and he ended up being a 90 rated 1c. Its too bad he never really blossomed in the NHL.
Chicago's only cap concern is the cap floor, so Burakovsky's cap hit isn't a huge deal. So in that sense, they just upgraded on a 1-for-1. Also, Brodie was destined for buyout since July 1 last year. Not surprising at all
Kraken can’t believe Hawks took contract…not one but two years at 5.5 mill per. Do the rebuild or don’t but filling half the lineup with players past their prime makes little sense.

People bitching about the Frederick deal are so myopic. The Frederick deal is a deal that may look bad the first 2 years, but I think will be fine overall. I think by 27-28, a third line wing who can fill in at center & fight will probably be in that 4 million per year range. The cap by then is expected to be 113.5 million in 2027-2028 so lets analyze. This season Trent makes 2.3 million with a cap of 88 million. Essentially 2.5% of the team's cap. With his new deal, in 2 years, he will be making 3.3% of his teams cap hit and in his prime. By 2030, Frederick will have 3 yrs left and the cap is projected to be 132.5 million, so Frederick will be making 2.8% of his teams projected cap space by then. This signing is NOWHERE near as bad as it sounds right now. That will most certainly be, at the VERY LEAST, a tradeable contract if he isn't producing. You can force a team to eat his contract in a trade by adding a late round pick. There is always a scrub team with cap room in need of stockpiling picks.
Joe Veleno is AHL player so this was just a cap dump for the Kraken.
Also Burakovski has 2 years left on his deal, but I don't see the Blackhawks contending over those 2 seasons, so they can afford to carry him for a couple of seasons.
The Hawks waste more and more cap room as the 2nd worst team.
