14:45 Hagens had 9 in 7 at World Juniors, he broke the all-time record (Kucherov – 21) at U18s with 22 in 7 one year ago. Frondell had 3 in 5 this year in the U18s
Awesome trade
The biggest question for me on Hagens is why did he avoid middle of ice more last season than any other season. Was it because players were bigger stronger and this made him less comfortable? If the answer is yes then he is winger and not center. Which is fine because I think he might actually have more upside as wing. Scouts need to earn their money here because Philly needs to know this answer before draft especially with Zegras trade – who is probably more of wing also. At some point they just need a etched in stone 1C. Something tells me Brady Martin moved up Flyers chart after Zegras trade. They need some physicality in top 6.

An important aspect of this is zegras is an RFA after this season. He will either resign or we qualify him as an RFA, if he is asking for a similar AAV then the RFA compensation will be a 1st and 3rd rounder for another team to sign him. So zegras either does well and the flyers do well or he doesn’t and we are able to sign him for cheaper, if he wants to hold out we get a free 1st and 3rd pick. Danny cooked.
Hopefully Tocchet learned from his stint in Vancouver that you don't get the most out of players like him by coaching them to play simple north-south hockey. Most likely wont pan out but perfectly fine cost for the pretty high upside bet.
Looking at Zegras’ stats, he went from a 60+ point player to a ~40 point pace immediately when Cronin came in. At the same time, his plus/minus went from like -25 to -8 pacing.
That change also dovetailed with the ducks getting marginally better, and zegras getting hurt, but as someone with Post Tortorella Stress Disorder, this screams Cronin just neutering the guy.
Zegras is instantly your second most talented player on the roster and you don’t know? lol okay..

Anaheim were trying endlessly to deal TZ. I wouldn't have traded RP even up for TZ. Ryan is better. And $3.5M cheaper. They also got 2 draft picks. I fkng hate this. Zegras a 2C? Moronic to believe teams are dumping high upside 2Cs. An Injury-prone, weak defensively winger that is expensive. Gut-punch to the locker room as well. 100% understand The Ducks wanted to dump him. FML.

If Barkey isn't a top 6 player, is he even with the Flyers or in the NHL? He's a player that puts up points. That doesn't happen on the 3rd and 4th, and his size doesn't lend itself to those roles. Yeah, Brink has been on the 3rd, but I'm not convinced he should be in the NHL either if he isn't playing 16+ per night.

Zegras, Couts, Cates, Jett, and whomever center the flyers draft. There's potential for a good center core. But I wonder if Zegras will play wing with MM and Jett centers them?
Love the idea of the trade but hate the player. A total one way player, only skilled offensively and a defensive liability. This team is giving up goals at an alarming rate. Good NHL teams can shut their opponent down. This team is severely undersized and lacks total team defense so let's trade one of the better defensive forwards we have. Also seems like we're okay taking bad players from bad teams? Thoughts…..
