“A lot of grit”. Well that settles it, Martin will be a flyer. I fully expect, if the flyers have the opportunity to pick a more talented player, they will pass on him for Martin because “he plays with ‘grit’”.

Brent Flahr and Briere said the same thing, that there is quite a bit of difference between their draft board and the media boards where most watch a few youtube highlights. I think McKensie is the best we got given he is basing his mock on actual NHL scouts. Whoever the Flyers picks, its the culmination of 2 years of scouting; there is a ton of work that goes into projecting the development of these kids. Its not an exact science which is why relying solely on the draft to rebuild is not a sound plan.

Totally agree on Martone. If Flyers view him as best overall, the solution is trading one of our wings who are average at best or inconsistent and plug in Martone when he’s ready.

From my pov I see so many defenceman in our system coming up soon between Haag, Andre, Zamula, Bonk etc we have future defenders it would be painful to see a number one pick used on anything other than center at least three picks in
