  1. Anyone remember the last time the Isles traded a D-man to a Canadien team? The Oilers gave the 16th and 33rd for Griffin. The 16th got us Barzal. What might it get us this time? I doubt the 16th pick this year produces someone like Barzal. Those 2 licks and something else may get us Hagens, but I doubt it. The draft depth just isn't there.
Dobson has always been overrated, IMO. He is still flubbing pucks at the blue line and making bad decisions in the D-zone. It may be 2 or 3 years before we know if he's all that. No way is he worth 9.5×8 as is.
I have a feeling the next bit of news we hear is the Isles sign Reilly to 3×5.

  2. Imo, Heinemen is similar to josh anderson but with a better offensive upside. Good speed and physical and a good shot, it's the kind of players that are really nice to have in playoffs and the habs didn't have a second line center and suzuki caufield slaf didn't got split, so we couldn't really see him with a good center, he could probably produce much more.

  3. Perhaps the cap space can be used to go for Ehlers. That would be a big help to the top 6. I like the deal. This spells out the first over all pick – Schaefer. Somehow getting Hagens would be nice, but I'd also take a Cootes and Hensler type of pick up. I like the Cootes kid.

  4. Hagans, 5' 10", 185. I think he slid down the list because he didn't grow. If he really is 185, he's a bit of a tank. If he can protect himself from big hits to the head, he could work out.

  5. Dobson definitely wasn’t worth 9.5. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong but I think his 70 point season was a fluke.

  6. One other note, I would caution fans who buy into anyone saying “this draft is weak.” How many times in the past have the draft analysts been wrong about the depth of a draft class? The answer is a lot. There is so much group think in this league and especially when you are evaluating 17/18 year old prospects.

  7. On the NHL draft points chart, called Montreal hockey now, number 4 overall-100 points, number 16 overall-51 points, number 17 overall-48 points. So, it seems even, although in this draft the quality drops off after 10th overall. It will be interesting to see how it plays out tonight.

  8. Emil is a good player !! Was on the power play a little with a fantastic shot, 3rd line type of player with a good motor love the value back for dobby !! Hagens babyyyyyyyyy🎉🎉🎉🎉

  9. Heineman has a great shot too. His ceiling is the 3rd line, but I think he can be a very good 3rd liner. Very defensively responsible big guy. Everyone really liked him here. I'm not surprised they asked for him.
What do you think you'll have to add to the 16th and 17th to get Hagens?

  10. On the upside, sounds like Heinenman can be Matt Martin 2.0, with a touch more offense. Hopefully he is not Pierre Engvall 2.0.

  11. Émile Heineman is a great for-checker. You will like him in Long-Island. He also have a great shot. He improved his game each year. Can replace in first line to.

  12. the isles organization and Darche are a joke..This team will never win. Mgmt sucks and Darche is a puppet

  13. Unfortunately this does not instill a lot of confidence in Darche for me. We took pretty poor value on a young, top defender to draft a guy whose draft stock is falling just because he likes the Islanders. Sure, if Hagen's was there and you had the pick, then pick him, but the way we are forcing it gives other teams leverage over us and forces us into bad deals (like this one). I would gladly field a team of guys who all grew up Rangers fans as long as they won us the cup.

  14. Dobson says he wants to go to a team that's on the rise but the Islanders would have been better if Noah didn't turnover the puck all the time and his lack of powerplay performance. That being said good luck in Montreal powder puff lol.

  15. Honestly i think it mostly comes down to not being able to agree on price. Dobson originally wanted 11 million and that was over what we wanted to pay him. Granted he took less than that from the habs, but the price for us just wasn’t right. Also to the point of players only wanting to go to no tax places, wasn’t the nhl supposedly working on a clause that would discourage that

  16. I can see him being a regular 50 point guy, but there’s a real chance we just gave Montreal Mike Green 2.0

  17. Dobson didn't want to be here so it's a great move. Darche is changing things which lou didn't so give him time

  18. What is love to see is they can use the two first picks and Pageau in two seperate moves to grab Hagens and mrtka that would be awesome

  19. if the Islanders move up with the trade of the two picks, I'd be going after Desnoyers. he's a player…. we'll see…..

  20. I’m still trying to wrap my head how people think the islanders didn’t get enough? Dobson is not a slam dunk. 2 first rounders and a prospect

  21. Sorry to see Dobson leave… I'm sorry guys…if Hagens is still there… grab him but I think Philly will pick him… I would be really surprised if we get him,😊

  22. As a Habs fan, I have to say the Islanders future suddenly looks so bright if they can manage to get Hagens by trading up. In the future, I imagine a powerplay with Hagens Schaefer Eiserman Horvat and Barzal would be absolutely unreal. There’s also the option of trading Horvat to really lean in to the rebuild, he would get a huge return.

  23. I like the trade, but only time will tell how it all pans out. Brady Martin plays in my hometown and I see him as another Sam Bennett, so I'm curious to see who gets him. Looking forward to watching the draft soon, as I'm just happy to see the Isles making changes and are improving the future of the team. Lets Go Islanders !!!
