I don't think the Flyers understood the assignment. They blew their lottery odds at the end of the season, and weren't aggressive enough getting into the top four of the Draft even with plenty of assets. The Sixers and Flyers just don't get it. Sixers pass on a rare scoring wing to draft a dime a dozen guard, and the Flyers take three first round picks and turn them into one second liner and one third liner.
Martone was the 3rd best player in the draft and has the potential to challenge at least Misa. Well friggin done, Danny.
No shot Nesbitt was going anywhere near 12th
Love the Martone pick but really don’t understand the Nesbitt pick.. all of the tape I see on him is just banging home rebounds. I really tried to find one thing I could point towards like having a lethal shot, or being an above average skater or playmaker but I don’t see anything that would say he’s worth trading 2 firsts for, nor anything close to resembling a 2nd liner center as Danny claims.
Can’t grade this first round any better than a D. Hagens was the pick at #6. I can live with Martone, but the downside to drafting yet another RW was the question of when and where your centre comes from. Nobody had Nesbitt as a higher graded prospect than Reschny or Cootes, and both were still on the board when Brière panicked.
Just a terrible night. These guys will never learn. Hextallitis still infests this organization. Could have had a franchise changing night. The Raiders of the NHL.
love the martone pick
Many petty disrespectful fans, questioning the ability of these guys. Very proud of the growth these guys will have.
Nesbitt is a reach!! I want to trust Danny but come on mam!!
Luchanko, Nesbitt, and Bonk better pan out…..that’s all I’m sayin
we can't choose Nesbitt, with Carter Bear, Cootes still available… we're stuck in the 90s… we want big, physical guys, with no particular talents, who are hard workers… we end up with lots of support players…
