1. Clearly the goal is to add size that has NHL level talent. Bottom 6 contributors. We did give up a decent haul, but taking on all of the cap for full term on wood is not going to age well.

  2. I'm ok with the deal and avalanche needs alot of draft picks also need cap room as long as it's not fantilli

  3. this offseason has been disappointing so far. feels like we've missed out on everything and now we're overpaying for mid

  4. This is the first time that I have serious doubts about what Waddell is doing. Obviously I hope this works out but I don’t quite know how it can. I think this trade would have been fine if the Avalanche paid us to have a cap dump. I have zero clue why we traded a good prospect and draft picks to get to two old bad contracts that I can’t see really fitting out lineup or timeline. Coyle is either 2nd C that pushes Fantilli or Monahan down, or he play 3rd C in a role that Brindley may have eventually occupied. While blocking spots in the lineups for young players. Honestly at this point I hope Waddell is done trading because this is an abysmal trade and I want to sit on our prospects and wait Waddell out if he continues making trades like this.

  5. Brutal. This kind of asset management makes me question everything about GMDW. So terrible.

  6. Gave up a guy who could have been a first rounder in his draft year but the Jackets still have two firsts this year. It sucks to see Brindley go, but the fact remains that guys like Del Bel Belluz, Pinelli, Dumais, and Malatesta are still in the system, as are Pyythia and soon Keskinen. The Jackets will add more great prospects, so making up for the likely departure of Kuraly and possibly Danforth and JVR is worthwhile IMO, and that's without taking into account the need to spend up to a much higher cap floor.

Doesn't make losing Brindley sting any less, but I don't think the situation is as bad as implied based on the reactions I've seen on X.

  7. As a STL fan I completely agree with you and hate this trade. Loved Brindley in the draft and hate that you gave Colorado cap relief and picks for some reason

  8. I’m not happy about getting rid of Brindley. I hope this doesn’t affect the relationship between Fantilli and the CBJ.

  9. Not happy with what we had to give up here, but to play devil’s advocate: I do like what Coyle brings to the table and Wood plays a very Columbus-style game. Coyle is one season removed from a 25 goal, 60 point season and can play top 6 mins. If someone in the top 6 got hurt Coyle could step in and Wood can PK. If the Jackets legitimately make the playoffs, Coyle’s a 20 goal scorer, and the PK gets better – then this is more palatable. But maybe thats just being optimistic.

  10. Couldn't agree more Jay!! Why Brindley😢 I'm fine with Any other Prospect Besides Him, any of our RD's besides Ceulemans or Bel Belluz!! No reason to Mess with Fantilli's Mojo with the Team by trading his best friend!! Why Not Dumais, Pinelli or Whitelaw??
