Le front office des Bruins joue aux dames, pas aux échecs

  1. I agree that Sweeney hasn't been great in the past, especially with drafts.
But maybe give him a chance for the next 2 seasons.

But, IMO, James Hagens is an EXCELLENT player and the Bs were lucky to get him at #7, the rest of the draft was decent with the picks that the had.
Hagens should have been top-4 and we got him at 7.
And the re-signing of Geekie was very good value deal, same for Lohrei and Jokiharu.

IF he can get some good free agent pick-ups (REALLY hope that Pius Suter from Vancouver, 26 year old top 6 forward, does test the UFA waters), then the Bruins might be ok, and even push for a playoff spot during the retooling.

They have more first and second round picks for next year. So, if they stay young and develop some talent (is Matt Poitras a top 6?) then they might be on the upswing.

IMO, Swayman needs to begin playing at his contract level. Without the split with Ullmark, he was not even average during the first 2/3 of the season.

  2. This host is painfuly stupid. Hagens is by far the best pick available and you don't need to be a scout to figure it out. He probably should have been 3rd overall, this pick was outstanding

  3. They drafted the best center available. What’s the problem here other than Boston sports radio has to be contrarian? Also wtf does Bertrand know about hockey?

  4. Many teams improved big time. Some are poised for the next wave ie decade. The Bruins didn't out-draft anybody. They simply got better picks than they usually do as a benefit for being so horrible last year. Right now, they have the same group without a captain and many decent veterans. The 1st line center is currently Elias Lindholm. There are several open slots with about $12.5M left. 😐

  5. Who cares about the hosts, the point is that the Bruins are shopping in their backyard and have been for some time. All these players are soft and easy to play against. So tired of people not understanding hockey. You won’t go far with kids who just like to skate and not get their noses dirty.
