Ehlers rarely plays a full shift. His endurance is weak. Plays short shifts.
Ehlers is a great player during the regular season but his playoff record is mediocre at best.
Canes need more than Nik the Entertainer to beat Florida. The fans will love him, but he’ll shuffle back to Denmark every Spring after losing game 4.
Ehlers shoulda went to Washington
Whenever, whatever no matter what…. signing a wpg jet us always a steal!! Nik white out certified ❤
Save yourself 12 minutes… it doesn’t. Love Ehlers but the jets have to make changes, it starts with Ehlers.
As a Jets fan – unless Toews is at least half of vintage Toews, I feel like this is going to be a rough season.

Losing a star player like Ehlers is always tough. But when you get nothing but heartbreak in exchange for him, it's exponentially worse.
its not a big loss – Carolina just paid a guy $8.5M a year for an actual glass statue who can't stay healthy and ghosts come playoffs. Bullet dodged Winnipeg.
Ehlers is great, but doesn't make the Canes them any bigger. They are too small…and Burns is an Ave. Jets have the young players to step up.
Overrated player
TSN is trash.
Not good for the Jets or Ehlers. Not. Good.
Toronto Sports Network somehow has more L’s than the Leafs.
Adding Toews while keeping Ehlers propels Jets into a Cup contending team… but losing ehlers now, that dream has been lost. not for money, not for term… simply because Ehlers wanted out. F that guy!
Great player if the season was 60 games.
Way overpaid for a guy that disappears during the playoffs, never broke 30 goals in a season and is injury prone. I believe the Hurricane fan base will live to regret this signing in the next few years
I think they’ll be fine
We will miss you ehlers see you on the rink
Ehlers was a great player to watch when he was healthy. He is injury prone, and will continue to be. Like any other player he could be replaced and will be when somebody else steps up. Definitely not worth the money he signed for.
If they can lock up Bedard at $9×8 … he could be the next Nathan McKinnon. Great potential on a bad team and needing a bit to find his game. Best contract in hockey now.
I never understand why people bash a guy after he leaves. Any player that has earned the right of UFA status should test the market and make a decision based on what they think is best for them. It’s no different for any of us who leave a job and go to a different one. Had he resigned the same fans bashing him would be praising him. It’s a business people, there is no such thing as loyalty, same as the corporate world. Get over it….
Sucks to lose him but we’ve been super loyal to our guys at the cost of our prospects. Time for them to step up!
Ehlers injury history is going to get worse during the life of this contract.
Florida is cooked. Wait and see.
The Hurricanes should trade Kotkeneimi for Chytil of the Canucks. If Chytil remains healthy, his size and skill will make a difference. We know the Canucks will welcome Kotkeniemi. They need another skilled Centerman as well.
Have anyone ever watched "moneyball"? Billy Beane used analytics to work with what he had financially. I see Cheveldayoff as a GM who uses philosophy centered around using advanced analytics to identify undervalued players and exploit market inefficiencies. Plus, he provides as system players can buy into. The Scheifele and Hellebuyck signings are evident of that.
The Jets were always fine every time he was injured. It would be nice to keep him but just means more opportunity for other players
This time I have to agree with Frank Corrado and his comments.
Often its opposite. He has very strong Canadian bias on his comments. Sometimes the bias IS too much.
Hurriganes after this deal is more like a hurricane .
Against east located teams teams like NY Rangers , Boston , Leafs , Capitals , Montreal , Tampa and Ottawa they will be even the favourites in play offs.
Also better chance to challenge Florida . Better than the others mentioned here.
I'm glad the Jets didn't give him the contract he got from carolina he's not that durable anymore he's not a ppg player he's probably only got 4 years left in him at this point.
