1. Thank you guys from Canada, Good signings IMO its time for Graves, Jarry, and others to put last year behind them.
    Bring up the rookie goalie

  2. I assume if one is very bad or there is an injury maybe Sergei Murashov gets a few games towards end of season

  3. This was all about Blom.and Mirashov getting playing time. Should have gotten more for Ned but understand the move.

  4. I like what the Penguins did today. They did exactly what Kyle Dubas said they would do, they went after depth guys that didn't break the bank and helped fill out their roster.

If they do sign Mantha, along with signing Brazeau, Mantha is also 6'5 and well over 230 pounds and can play in your bottom or top 6 as well. So there is a theme about the Penguins wanting to be more difficult to play against.

They still have well over $17 million in cap space and there is no question, they are not done this off season. There are more trades coming. I do think this off season you will see one of them in terms of Karlsson, Rust, or Rakell traded like you guys said, the Penguins have all the leverage and can try to squeeze every bit of out of these teams. I know they will have to retain money on Karlsson but the good news is, they don't have any retention spots as they are done paying Reilly Smith and Jeff Petry. Also, just in case anyone is wondering, this is the final season the Penguins have to pay Jack Johnson (remember him) and his 6 year buyout!

  5. I get not making big signings… the Pens will likely finish last in the east this year, and not much is changing that.

But I don’t get adding even more bottom 6 forwards. The Pens now have 14 forwards under NHL contracts, and that doesn’t include Koivunen.

So guys like Broz and Hallander … to name two … are blocked yet again.

  6. Just because I have fun making lines the team as it stands is something like: Koivunen-Crosby-Rust, McGroarty-Malkin-Rakell, Dewar-Novak-Tomasino, Lizotte-Acciari-Brazeau, and Imama-Hayes-Heinen the extras. And the defense is something like: Pickering-Letang, Kolyachonok-Karlsson, Wotherspoon-Clifton, and Graves-Shea-Jones the extras.

Yeah as it stands that's not really that much different than last season, but that was to be expected.

  7. I also think they will try to trade Acciari this off season, you won’t get much out of him, but signing Brazeau and potentially Mantha along with some of the young guys who might battle for roster spots in camp, there pretty much isn’t any room for him anymore plus he’s a pending UFA next off-season.

  8. Wearing a baseball hat backwards indicates immaturity and a less than professional approach to reporting and analysis.

  9. So pumped Justin Brazeau is a penguin I played hockey on his team when we were little gotta love having a hometown player playing for my team!!

  10. I wanna know his number he’s gonna have when he plays. his number growing up was 15 I wanna be the first to have a Brazeau jersey lol

  11. The trade should have been ned for a solid 5-6th d-man that can clear the front of the net all year long.
    Why?
a third has a 10% chance of EVER being a starting NHL player.
Jarry is already struggling and has been for YEARS and the current d is WEAK.
and now you want to throw a rookie behind that rubbish d?
    I'ts going to ruin him.

The ONLY goalie in the world who could have propped up this D is the dominator himself.

So, boy wonder, what are you going to do when jarry gets sent back down to the AHL this year?

  12. Will miss Ned, but neither him or Jarry should’ve been blocking the rookies path to the NHL. If I’m the Pens, start Blomqvist as the backup to Jarry, then Larsson as next man up and then Murashov. Murashov needs at least a full season at WBS before they start running him at the NHL.

  13. Always loved NED – for sure a great addition for the Sharks .
that’s gonna be a fun team to watch this year & NED will be a great fit in the locker room
