IMO, GM Bill Armstrong from Utah is done with adds. Utah has 22 players signed and they still have to sign McBain. That'll make 23. They do have six players who will be UFAs after this coming season, so he'll probably be busy at the deadline trading some of them to make room for players like But and Simashev. Then perhaps all the rest will be gone after the season depending on if Iginla, Beaudoin, Lamoreaux, and others are ready. What they need to do is get McBain signed AND THEN get to work on extensions for Cooley and Hayton.
Utah's top 6 right now consists of four wingers who scored 60 or more points, three of which are under 24 years of age. The only one over 24 is 26 years of age…and he and just scored 90pts. Then their 1C (Cooley) just scored 65 in his age 20 season and their 2C, in his age 24 season, scored 46 while having a rotating carousel of wingers opposite Schmaltz and none really produced. Now Hayton (the 2C) gets Schmaltz on one side and Peterka on the other. This top 6 is already awesome 🙂
