  1. It was a roller coaster day for Isles fans, but in the end, you have to feel like the team tried to put itself in position to replenish an older franchise with an infusion of youth. Losing Dobson stings for the moment, but you get 3 prospects (the 2 picks and Heinemann) that could end up weighing heavier than Dobson in the future.

  2. If anyone thinks either of the 2 picks MTL traded to get Dobson will be better than Dobson…..you're crazy…..this trade makes Montréal a perennial playoff team. Eklund dropped for many reasons.

  3. Islanders I thought didn’t get enough for Dobson but I love the Eklund pick especially. Already showed he can play against men and he’s going to get bigger.

  4. We'll send you guys in the next few years pictures of Dobson with the cup in Montreal! Merci Mathieu Darche habs legend forever 😉 and thanks you for this missing piece on our roster GO HABS GO 🔵⚪🔴

By the way Islanders fans are gonna fall in love with Heineman this guy is only gonna get better, he is a real stud already with good work ethic (bottom 6 winger for sure but amazing shot, very good speed and physical) good luck with Eklund and Aitcheson in their development. Good trade for both organization! Islanders are in good hands with DARCHE as the GM

  5. i don't mind not getting hagens, wasn't so high on the kid anyway. but to trade dobber and not get a blue chip cant miss prospect or a starting forward back-or at least a very good second liner- is inexcusable. total clusterbuck. maybe the 16th or 17th pick will become a 4th liner in 3-4 years 🙄 i would much rather they resigned noah at 9.5 per

  6. Eklund is a steal. Plays more and are a better player than frondell who was picked at third. When Eklund wasn't in top five I started laughing.

  7. And the Habs drafted the player they wanted in the first round, in the second round, Alexander Zharovsky.

  8. scouts didn't know nelson. So nelson was initially a top 9 pick that dropped to the 31s. A star player top 9. This year scouts know nelson so picked earlier. kind of eklund, except this year scouts dropped eklund. so not the same move. That's why you don't make the same move twice in a chess match.

  9. Islanders doubled the number of prospects picked in first rd adding to Ritchie, Eiserman and Nelson. Losing Dobson is offset by gaining 9 million in signing space for a big UFA. Keep in mind they have signed vets in Horvat, Lee, Barzal, Pulock and Sorokin etc plus a new GM who can pitch for a top UFA and a coach who wants to win now.

  10. Noah Dobson is a very good offensive player who plays on defense. Only problem is his defense sucks. It's really below average. This is why us Islanders fans were not upset that he was gone. He's a very frustrating player. I'm very happy with what the picks became. Helps isles with the youth movement and economically by not having to pay Dobson.

  11. If you gave me the option two days ago of Dobson and that contract he signed, or Eklund, Aitcheson, Heineman and 9.5m in cap space, I’m the taking the latter alllllllllll day

  12. This is something that worked great for both teams. Isles get much needed talented youth for the future and more cap room for now, and the Habs get someone that completes a back four that should soon enough be the best in the entire league.

    Win/Win.

  13. It fell their way. It turned out to be a very good return for Dobson. We all have looked at Dobson through rose colored glasses. I think the story about Lou making him available last year in a trade, tells you all you need to know. Montreal feels like they fleeced the Islanders. Dobson might never be more than a 50 60 point Defensive Liability. Montreal might have gotten fleeced by Darche.

  14. If the Islanders had somehow gotten the 18th pick and also took Reschny (good pick; good value, too), Darche would have pulled off the reverse Don Sweeney when in 2015 the Bruins choose Jakub Zboril, Jake DeBrusk, and Zachary Senyshyn in three successive picks. At least DeBrusk turned out ok. But in a way, Darche may already have pulled the reverse Sweeney, getting Schaefer, Eklund and Aitcheson in the first round.

  15. Honestly, there's no way to know how well any team did in this draft right now. It's going to take years before you can accurately grade a draft class

  16. I wish Dobber well in Montreal, he'll put up points. But this return is better than I could ever imagine. Eklund was a freaking STEAL, half the league asleep at the wheel passing on him, AND Aitcheson too!!! Hahahahaha

  17. As an isles fan I can’t say that I’m very happy because drafts are a crapshoot. I’m cautiously optimistic about the picks. I wish Dobson well and I’m hoping he grows as a player but Canadiens fans are about to see the most frustrating 10 million dollar player that they have ever seen.

  18. I’m sorry but I’m the type of fan that watches every game. Dobson is a frustrating player to watch. Most of his points are unnoticed and his mistakes are memorable. Our power play is a joke and it starts with Dobson. We killed it in the draft especially if the islanders hit on a few of these draft picks. The islanders are headed in a direction that makes us all feel good. We needed this. I understand Lou’s thinking. He had this team one goal away. He got caught chasing that dream and it was too late. Good luck to Lou, Dobson and everyone else that’s leaving. Thank you for your dedication to our team. Now let’s go Schaefer and let’s go Islanders.

  19. Both teams got what they needed out of the trade. Good haul for the Isles after Dobber had an off year, but he was their most valuable trade chip outside of Sorokin and Barzal. Dobson has high potential and showed more physicality in this last season. Very good on the PP.
