No more than losing Skjei and Pesce last year. Not to mention Guentzel. Last year is when we really lost the bubble and it will be a few years before we recover. Name players in those positions you could get RIGHT NOW AT ANY PRICE to replace those 3…..
As far as Orlov goes, we had more than a few players the last two post seasons that completely lost their mind on some bad plays.

Orlov was a lazy bum
Orlov was horrible last year, by far our worst player. I lost count of how many times his mistakes lost us a game. His offensive upside doesn't make up for it. Also, adding Nikishin means that we have a lot of GAR that's not really being counted. Nikishin had 17 goals, 29 assists (46 points) in 61 games in the KHL last year, as a defenseman. We are significantly better than we were last year and we still have $10.6 million in cap space left to sign even more players.
i don't think we lost much from those 2, they were good but their age is showing in our system. i know they're conditioned but at late 30s early 40s they wont be able to keep up with what we need in the playoffs.
Can I be honest here. That sounds horrible, but it’s called a system. Our system makes dogwater players look good. If we were to let Robinson walk after next season, it’s probably similar to Burns or close to it depending on if Robinson gets scratched. Why? Bc he works well within the system, he sucked in Buffalo and elsewhere but he fits here. That’s the only thing that makes these guys thissss great. I don’t see burns or orlov playing as well as they did here. The systems they go to will show the flaws we helped to cover

I would have been ok with seeing Orlov getting re-signed to another 2 yr contract for a little bit less than his previous contract. Yeah, he has some bad games, but overall I think he’s a decent player, and he played a great physical game that has largely been lacking in the Carolina roster. The Canes D for next season looks good, but when injuries happen I’m concerned about depth – who is getting called up when roster spots need filling? Of course we want Nikishin to be a regular, but when someone gets hurt, who are we plugging that hole with? Stillman?
