You can talk all you want about him being a 100 point guy in the regular season. My memory of him will always be him standing there doing nothing as Pasternak blew past him and scored the series winning goal for Boston.

Well, this is a definite move in another direction and I hope it works out. The Leafs do need more size and toughness at the forward position and this helps. It will look bad if Marner suddenly becomes a great playoff player on Vegas, but that's definitely a long shot at this point.
Since Marner said he was waiting for July 1st free agency, I was saying Marner should be traded and they did.

Vegas got a skilled star who disappears in the playoffs and even becomes a liability. Roy is a big strong guy who has actually scored a SC final OT winner. Has Marner?
Roy better get 100 points or the media and fans will run him out of town. Marner will win a cup in Vegas before the Leafs win one. He’ll love it there because the people in Vegas only pay attention to hockey because the team is winning. When the bottom drops out, they’ll stop going and Marner can collect his money with no pressure.
Mitch marner is gone i think he was a great regular season player but didn't show up in key playoff moments especially when they had a series 3 to 1 lead on the habs in the covid season plus even this season when they totally emploded against Florida in game 5 and 7 and he didn't show up he will probably do well with vegas in the regular season with Eichel but who knows what he does in the playoffs with them but the leafs need to add another top six winger and I think they need to add another offensive dman but it won't be easy and treliving needs to dump Reaves kamf and jarnkrok
The Leafs gave up a first rd pick for Scott Laughton and a first for Carlo. Florida got Marchand for a 2nd rd pick. The Leafs wouldve beaten Florida if they had Marchand.

My fav player being traded off my fav team is not a good day for me. I understand the trade was to free up a bunch of money to do more trades later, but Marner for Roy doesn't seem like a great trade to me. Hopefully Toronto uses that money saved to bring in someone better later on.
