There's no other centers to replace 87 & 71 in our system.
The organization waited to long to replenish the center positions in the system, unless we strike gold in the draft, in trades and free agency we have nothing to replace Sid and Geno in the near future.
malkin is a shell of his former self , look at his production over the last few years and remember that NO NHL player gives the puck away as much as malkin and now that the offense isn't there to cover up for that he has becoming a liability . I see upside in tommasino and look forward to having him for a whole season ! Hayes is clogging up a spot for one of the young players in the system .
The team made the ultimate mistake. They allowed sentiment to rule over logic. They never should have signed Letang and Malkin to their current, and hopefully expiring, contracts. Those two have not been worthy players for at least 3+ years.
Did we forget about mantha? Why not tomasino- novak- mantha as your third line with scoring touch and then you have a 4th line of dwar- lizzotte- brazue (?). We still have too many forwards though because that leaves out hienen, hayes and accari.

He is Meh at best
From someone who is relatively a hockey novice-type fan, shouldn't everybody be a center? I mean, isn't hockey a little more dynamic where everybody should setup everybody else to shoot the puck, even the defensemen? Or maybe that would end up like a Charlie Brown cartoon.
Wasn't it Novak that Malkin said he wanted to play with because he likes the way he plays?
Hi DK, could Novak play center with Geno on the wing? Playing 2nd line with one of the baby Pens who make it. I think that has all the making of a 2nd line that has some youth, talent, and speed. Also, in the course of a long year Tomasito can play with Novak & Geno too. Having Tomasito play with him may put some confidence in Tomasito and that I believe would do wonders for him. Not sure what Muse approach will be with the young guys but I hope he lets them play through struggles. There may be some 2016 magic left (sheary,kuhnackle,Wilson,rust,etc) made their push into the lineup and really provided juice and fresh legs to the line up
