Cup or Bust for Vegas!
My big prediction for this season is Jack Eichel potting more than Auston Matthews. Eichel is such an underrated goal scorer, and he's going to have so many more chances with Marner on his wing.
It likely won’t happen, but it would be hilarious if Vegas did miss the playoffs next season with such a stacked team and after going all in to get Marner 😂
As much as I dislike Vegas my goodness I hope they win with Marner and I'll get to watch the Leafs fans faces melt

Fla vs Vegas finals rematch – 2026
As a VGK day one guy, love Hill, but ask any VGKer and Laurent Brossoit was our guy for the Stanley cup run. He got moved down the AHL on a condition stent came back up, took on Edmonton until his hip went out. That’s when Hill stepped in and took us to the cup win but BROssoit was the man. Hills great but not that brickwall to end all.
None of that depth showed up against the Oilers. Good thing they added playoff dynamite to the roster.
Marner made the right move, Leafs will never win another Cup.

As a big Vegas fan, it should be a really exciting season. I'm wondering if Eichel and Marner should be split up because they both are so excellent at assisting. I'm guessing coach Cassidy will do some forward line experimenting. I think the defense will be good, but Petro will certainly be missed. Hopefully Whitecloud will take a step forward. Hill will need to be a little more consistent in goal.

I am so happy Wild Bill, Smith, Hertl, and Saad are all coming back. They're really solid players.
I'm not going to get into a cup or bust mentality. Too many things can happen in an 82 game season and the playoffs ( i.e., key injury, inconsistent goaltending). It's a tough league, and there may be a sleeper in the WC we don't anticipate. Winning the cup twice in 4 years would be quite the accomplishment, and of course Florida likely will be lurking on the horizon.
Down here in Australia and I'm not a Vegas fan.

I'm certainly not hoping that Vegas falls off any time soon, for one it's just fun to see people get so salty and move the goal post every time Vegas proves them wrong just refusing to accept that hockey is working there. But the other is that since Vegas has been a recurring wall for the Ducks I want them to remain at their best so that when the Ducks reach playoffs it could make for a very fun rivalry. Plus I just like the team in general.

I know it’s 3 righties, but eichel, stone, marner is quite the stack up/ powerplay line… 3 very smart players. It should help them match up with say the oilers top end talent if they meet again in the playoffs.

As a chicago blackhawks fan I have them finishing with 3rd worst record in the 2025/2026 Season
The hockey guy this was a pretty bad take. You usually have good takes, but this was objectively bad. They lost a ton of depth, haven’t replaced pietrangelo, which is a huge blow, and didn’t need to sign Marner. They also lost some key players that helped them in the playoffs with that Marner trade.
Hertl as the 3rd string center is crazy and I say that as no disrespect to Karl. Crazy the team is good enough Herlt could be that.
VGK season ticket holder here. The whole key to the forward strategy is where to put Stone. I'll take a lot of grief here, but Stone is slow and often plays injured. When he pairs up with Eichel, Eichel doesn't play his strongest. He's almost borderline lazy. I think the right pairing here is with Hertl. He knows how to work with Stone more than the others do. I'd move Hertl to Line 2 with Stone, Karlsson to Line 3 with Smith, and then swap Scorofyev with Barbie and put him on the Eichel-Marner line.
They should make the playoffs, I don't see them failing that… but making it to the finals is still a question mark due to injuries and goaltending.

Vegas has one semi tough guy (Kolesar) now that Hague is gone. Barbie and Hertl can dig pucks out of the corner but others are less skillful/strong in that area. Dorofeyev is particularly easy to body off a puck but his shot is money. The line combos are interesting but what's really going to be fun is the power play unit that comes out of adding Marner. Will we see 5 forwards?
Hes going to get obliterated when his Lilly ass gets back to Toronto.
Their forward group is really solid no doubt, but that D core leaves a lot to be desired. They're 1 top 4 injury away from a dumpster fire and not being able to get out of their own end
