  1. Putting aside the tangible effects, I appreciate the change of CULTURE Dubas is bringing to the process. The prospect pool can't be allowed to dry up as chronically as it has.

  2. how about subtracting useless pens like graves and Hayes ?? those two are clogging up a roster spot for a young guy who can play hockey !

  3. DK thanks for reading my comment. I wholeheartedly believe that this season is important. I believe that it’s important for the team to get good results with the new staff and to prove that the Pens aren’t punting on Crosby’s career. When I say “give him a chance” I don’t mean for the hell of it. I mean let the guy compete honestly for a spot and if he wins out, maybe his physical play can ratchet up the physical play for the whole team. Most of the media is reporting that the Pens are dead in the water and a substantial part of the fan base is giddy at the idea of tanking. I want nothing more than for this team to prove everyone wrong.

  4. I don’t think it’s a fantasy to expect a lottery pick. They had a stretch of good games last year but have been terrible the last two seasons overall. I don’t think they are trying to lose but they aren’t putting a winning product out there this season. We will know by mid season what this team is.

  5. This roster currently is probably equal to last year’s, better at forward but probably worse on defense and probably a push in net. This team was bottom 5-6 for the large majority of last season before an out of left field hot streak by Tristan Jarry propelled them to a solid end of the season (10-5-2, St. Paul, Dallas) and even with the streak they still finished bottom 10. This is despite another excellent performance by Sid and career highs from both Rust and Rakell as well as fairly good special teams play for large chunks of the season. My question is with no substantial additions and another year of age on our core players, why on earth does anyone expect a better finish in the upcoming season?

  6. I mean there's Graves, Wotherspoon, Pickering, Shea and Alexeyev. So that's 5 for 3 spots. Granted, none of them are top 4 defenseman … at least there's hope for Pickering down the road.

  7. Good morning DK, I've thoroughly enjoyed how Dubas has handled the cap, especially in this way, he has taken on someone else's "cap problem" for assests. He's done that with Hayes, Dumba, and I believe another but can't seem to remember who. But, to my point, we've received at least 2-2nd round picks, Hayes who's had success in the league and quite a different player than a typical Sully defense only 3rd liner for 1/2 the salary, and now Dumba who if he returns to the player from the Wild could be half decent. If not, injuries occur or a team is looking for a physical dman going into the playoffs maybe we flip him for another 2nd or 3rd? Who knows Doumilin got a 2nd and 4th last years trade deadline which is insane. Dubas could put on a masterclass in asset management, period! I will say for next years draft, especially the 1st & 2nd rounds, please for the love of God Dubas keep or gain in this particular draft because of the stand out talent! Do not trade down, and down, and down, because there's hope in more…..maybe in this 2025 draft, ho hum ok. NOT NEXT YEARS! There could easily be 10-15 drafts make the NHL teams, that kind of talent. If we could receive another 1st for next year and have 2, possibly in the top 20 let's say, this could push our youth movement big! Hopefully Rutger & Koivunen fit in this year well, a couple more next draft, maybe sign a free agent or trade for quality and boom we're shaping up! Blessings, Victor from Canada 🇨🇦

  8. This guy as GM is as bad ss the pirates Gm I've been s hokey fan for years snd i seen this before ohh we have these great guys that are coming up we must play them. Then they get here snd sre complete busts more thsn ones who make it. And this guy is just not a good judge of talent just look at who hes signing s bunch of nobodies

  9. It might benefit Dubas to wait until the trade deadline to trade Karlsson. Teams get desperate as their rivals start adding. The price for Karlsson could go up, especially if he's given the freedom to do his thing under Muse.

  10. I could only think of Graves on left D. No POJ or Grzelcyk now, so I really cannot think of anyone else. (forgot about Pickering)
I'm so tired of this McKenna fever dream. We've had 2 generational franchise players, it's way more likely the Pens never have another. Between Sid and a new coaching staff not looking to lose there jobs, expectations should be that the Pens are going to be middle of the pack at worst.
This idea that if your team isn't championship favorites, you should try to tank is how you become the Pirates in the 40+ year rebuild or the Cleveland Browns. Tanking breeds losing culture.
