Not a Niners fan (Raider Nation baby!), but frequent Levi's for soccer matches (especially summertime events). This should've been done AND SHOULD STILL BE DONE. Feels like a Vegas summer inside Levi's in July/August. BTW Brodie, the FAA stuff is nonsense; see buildings in downtown SJ 2 miles south of SJC that are 200-300 ft in height, far taller than any hypothetical Levi's shading/lighting system.
This absolutely should happen for SnapDragon Stadium. It's a great "right sized" stadium for MLS and SDSU (35K), but it is too sunny in SD for that stadium. Plus they don't need to worry about planes (at least civilian ones).'
Side Note: It is amazing to fly right over Balboa Park and the Aerospace Museum outside deck as you are landing in San Diego. There are plenty of tall buildings there and literally the terrain is higher as you approach the airport.
For NFL there are only a handful of games that get hot and for the most part they try and play on the road early in the season. Since they were paying for it on their own dime, a roof would have added significant costs. Please stop saying Levi's was designed for Candlestick. That is such total and utter nonsense and nowhere close to be accurate. They simply decided not to do a dome or roof in Santa Clara. Mind you I hate the design and they should have done something different but they were limited with the site and the airport. So they had some challenges. I still hate it, it is an ugly stadium.
Perhaps the current structure could not support the weight of a roof/paneling system. Like you can't just build a second story on any single story home.
This needs to be done sooner rather than later. It is just too damned hot there in September and October. Just watch on TV when no one is in the stands because they are broiling.
We’re talking about needing shade for six hours a few times a year. Even the Roman collesium has temporary shade. The problem isn’t the FAA, the problem is the owners’ ego and cheapness.
Something said you are a pilot, that being in the cadence. As for the issue with San Jose Airport, this is an example of the team and the architects not really think things through. And as a result, well the approaches could end up being, like going into the main Hong Kong one [as per the Jeppeson Maps].

Rich Folks don’t give a crap about regular folks. Guaranteed that if there was Luxury Boxes on the sunny side of the Levi’s, there’d been a canopy nearly Day 1. FOH with all of these excuses. Long live “Rotisserie Stadium” 🍗♨️
