  1. Grew up in 90s era..allison, carter, dafoe, samsonov, rolston to name a few, than bergeron, savard, chara, sturm, and seidenberg. Still love the bs today!

  2. Nifty Middleton was a favorite here. Perennial Lady Byng contender too. he and Barry Pederson were a good combo.

  3. Middleton was my favorite Bruin growing up, but I "hate" the Bruins. A Habs, 'Nucks fan.. Years later, Bourque.

  4. I am 68 years worn out….oops I meant old. My #1 favorite is and will always be Bobby Orr. Sticking to your time frame. I agree about your thoughts on Marchand, but here are a few guys that would have made my list different from yours. Ken Linsman, Craig Janney, Johnny Boychuk, Adam McQuaid, Brian Rolston.

  5. Habs fan 55 years
    1 – Wayne Cashman
    2 – Ray Bourque
    3 – Patrice Bergeron
    4 – Brad Marchand
    5 – Terry O'Reilly
    6 – Steve Kasper

All other Bruins fail to make my list

  6. I'm a lifelong Bruins fan living in Massachusetts, and I liked all the players you listed. Many of yours are also on mine. Here are my top 20 that I've watched over the years, plus a very memorable Honorable Mention (HM):

    1 Ray Bourque
    2 Patrice Bergeron
    3 Phil Esposito
    4 John Bucyk
    5 David Pastrnak
    6 Rick Middleton
    7 Cam Neely
    8 Wayne Cashman
    9 Terry O'Reilly
    10 Adam Oates
    11 Zdeno Chara
    12 Brad Marchand
    13 David Krejci
    14 Gerry Cheevers
    15 Marc Savard
    16 Barry Pederson
    17 P.J. Axelsson
    18 Stan johnathan
    19 Don Sweeney
    20 P.J. Stock
    HM Gregory Campbell

I watched a Bruins playoff game against Pittsburgh on TV on 6/5/2013 when I saw Gregory Campbell play an extended penalty kill after having his leg broken from blocking a shot. This act of courage is well remembered by Boston fans and Gregory Campbell is immortalized in Bruins fans' memories who watched this happen. Fans who saw this will never forget it.

Otherwise, I always admired the defensive play by forward P.J. Axelsson and the spunk of P.J. Stock, who had a brief tenure with the Bruins as a theatrical energy player. Some took exception to his wave to the fans as he went off for his fighting majors, but he put on a good show. Stan Johnathan is a bit of a throwback, but the timing of his energetic play and the way he dropped his gloves and glared at his adversary are etched in my mind.

    Thanks for your great list.

  7. A lot of rumors from Middleton's Ranger days about him having a drink or two too many at the pub with other regular guys, which is supposedly the reason he got traded. Mind you these were just rumors, but they were rumored enough to get in the newspapers. Like Don Murdoch, he was a young Canada boy who got to like the big city life a little bit too enthusiastically. But also one of my favorite Bruins. For my favorite, I don't show any imagination. It's Bobby Orr.

  8. Adam Oates played lacrosse for the Rexdale Warriors in the 70's. I had the opportunity of playing with him on the novice A team of which his father coached, He was very fit, although slight and took a lot of punishment. Notwithstanding his small stature he was a dominant offensive player – relentless in effort and determination. One of the teams highest scorers. His father really pushed him and Oates gave it his all.
