  1. I'm very disappointed in the Fenway Group. They obviously have mega money, but I wonder if they just thought they could run the Penguins like they run the Red Sox. There is (but really there isn't if we're being honest) a salary cap in baseball. I don't know what they expected from these years of the team, but I don't think they got what they expected out of it, and for that, I think they only have themselves to blame.

  2. Let me say this, if someone other than Mario’s group buys the Penguins, they will be hated. People didn’t react well to things FSG did, because it wasn’t Mario in charge anymore. Now imagine you’re the new owner who outbid Mario. You better do everything right and even then, you’ll probably still be hated. Any mistake you make, Pittsburghers will say “Mario wouldn’t have done that.” I don’t think that will sway anyone away from buying the team, but I also know for sure that if someone else buys the team other than Mario, they most certainly will be surprised when they are disliked simply because they’re not Mario

  3. Can you blame FSG? The league is junk with a model that with all its parity only lets about four teams seriously compete for the championship every year. And thats just the on ice side of things.

  4. As much as I love Mario Lemieux the player and am grateful for all he's done for the franchise, as long as his business partner is Ron Burkle, no thanks.

  5. Is any of the roster building tied to the ownership being in flux? I.E are they not ‘going for it’??

  6. Hi DK, exactly, without addressing the left defense the grade for Dubas at best, imo, is a C- and the only reason its not a fail….he brought in toughness, more talent up front, took on salary dump for another 2nd pick in Dumba. If he does something before the season starts on the left defense, which I do think he will somehow, and depending who, C+

  7. FSG are all business. They don't have any culture about them, they bought in to the Pens for real estate options which didn't obviously didn't happen. Its not that they've done bad things, they put money into the franchise but Pittsburgh as a city is out of their element. The team also hasn't been winning of late so there's that.

  8. Hey DK. Since you addressed your thoughts about the quality of the Dubas summer, how do you think he has done overall since he's been here? and how did he do overall at Toronto? As for me, I dont understand why the Pens still dont have a real legit starting goalie, a decent D, and enough grit…Not glamorous stuff I know, but essential.
