Let's hope this year their star players don't get injured before the playoffs, that's what doomed them last season.
Really with this team it's all about the injuries because they are not deep offensively.
The reason NJD have so much cap space is because they haven't signed Luke Hughes to a contract yet.
Hughes really just keeps looking like the extra edge they need every year he's injured.
This feels like a high ceiling, low floor team
Fitz does too little too late. If he doesn't grow a set and continues to be trigger shy about making moves he should be fired.

I was impressed with the Devils defense in the playoffs. They were tough, they just couldn't score. Certainly, they were a bigger test for the Hurricanes than the Caps were.
Is Jack Hughes really enough to bridge that gap, though, assuming he is healthy for the playoffs? Seems like they're putting a lot of weight on a young player.
Getting the feeling of "meh" going into this season w/ the Devils .. and considering Fitz waits too long to make moves, this will be another roulette wheel spin hoping to land on right combo
